So far I am very happy with it I do play ps4 pro Cod and watch Netflix and espn. I don’t over do it and play games for 8 hours or espn for 8 hours I have been moving around on my selection no burn in and even if I just paid 500 for 5 years protection if something goes wrong I will go back to LED and say it was fun while it lasted lol

Equal Parts TV and Fun House Mirror
|Posted .Owned for 3 months when reviewed.Features
Quality1 out of 5Value1 out of 5Ease of Use3 out of 5Picture quality is great, but there are a few flaws with the design with one of them being a deal breaker for me. 1. Make the stand slightly taller so a soundbar can fit under it. The height of the TV really limits your options if the soundbar has to be on the same surface as the TV. 2. With lower resolution sources such as 720p TV sources and the black detail that OLED can handle, color banding can be seen in a lot of darker scenes. It does depend a lot on the source. Watching Mr. Robot on USA is by far the worst example of it and may be due to the way it was shot and then compressed for broadcast. I haven't noticed it nearly as much with DVDs as I do with that show. 3. The glossy screen is way too reflective if you have a bright room. I live in a highrise apartment with a bright livingroom. The reflections on the TV are bad. I feel like my 10 year old LG with a matte/semigloss screen handled them much better. You can see in the pictures I am attaching for issue #4 4. The reflections have a fun house mirror effect. It almost looks like the screen is warped, but what LG has told me is that it is not a defect and has to do with the way the screen is constructed. It only affects the viewing experience for me when there is a dark scene and I have either a light on in the livingroom/kitchen or the blinds open which then causes reflections. If you are in a controlled lighting area such as a dedicated home theater room, this probably won't be a problem for you. See the attached pictures for the effect. I have the 55" and I expect that the larger screens will have it even worse, so that is something to take into account if you were looking at those. I did go by my local Best Buy the other day and found that all of the OLEDs in my local Best Buy (Sony and LG) also have the same effect with reflections. LG support will not do anything about #4 above as they deem it not a defect which is also contributing the the one star review. I may talk with Best Buy to see what they can do since I bought the protection plan, but I expect that since I am well out of my return window, I will be stuck with the TV. An expensive mistake on my part, but hopefully I can help others from making the same mistake with the information in this review. Again, I will say the picture quality is great, but the fun house reflections are a deal breaker, if Best Buy can't help me out in some way, I will be selling this TV and buying something without a glossy screen and better suited for a bright room.

|Posted .Pros mentioned:Picture, Sound qualityThis TV has a great picture- the sound is deep and clear when music is playing, the voice assistant is better then expected. I love the fact the TV remote controls the cable also. The only negative is the VGA size is a little odd. My iPhone does not do the justice that is deserved to the picture that is provided.

Quality4 out of 5Value3 out of 5Ease of Use4 out of 5Pros mentioned:Color, Design, PictureCons mentioned:Burn-inThis is not my 1st 4k HDR TV. I had Sony A8G - bought a floor model that I returned right away because it had a burn in. Vizio P-Series Quantum that ended up having jailbars DSE on 4 different sets and a Hisense H9F which had alot of hype but was not to my satisfaction. I decided to get the LG C9 so I know I'm not making any compromises and am getting the best picture quality available without going with an even more expensive Sony OLED. I must say that this TV is outstanding for everything I use it for and definitely the best TV I ever had. Netflix streaming, 4K UHD movies on a Sony 4K player and video games on PS4 all look amazing. The most important part of any TV is the picture quality and this set has one of the best looking pictures money can buy in 2019. The blacks are amazing, the colors are vivid and natural, and the contrast is out of this world. I have not seen any black crushing because the A9 Gen 2 chip does a great job in picture processing and the motion is outstanding. I would recommend this TV to anyone without any hesitation. This is a beast of a TV that does it all. Below are some cons however that I discovered in my few days of owning the TV. Cons: - eARC when booting up makes loud static noise for about 6 seconds every time I turn on the TV. Really annoying, but the sound from my Sony sound bar works fine after that. - Price. the Vizio had 85-90% of the picture quality for hundreds less. If it wasn't for my luck with the very distracting DSE I would of been more than happy with the Vizio. - The burn in worry is always there. I've seen it first hand on the Sony A8G and know it is real. Now I'm babysitting this TV like I've never done with any other set and am weary of playing video games on it. I also purchased an extended warranty for the first time in my life which means even more money spent on this already expensive TV. - Would not recommend for bright rooms. The TV gets plenty bright in a dimmer room, but would not be suitable in rooms with lots of natural light. Also, the screen is super reflective and would be too distracting in a bright room.

Q: QuestionI'm concerned about burn in. Is there any safety features that detect if the screen hasn't changed for too long and instead turns off?
Asked by Jad0000
- A:Answer In the OLED Panel Settings for the LG C9 55 inch Class 4K Smart OLED TV w/ AI ThinQ® (54.6'' Diag), Model # OLED55C9PUA you can improve image quality issues related to image sticking when the screen has been on for a certain amount of time. There is the Pixel Refresher feature that calibrates any issues that may arise on the screen when your TV has been turned on for a long time. Calibration takes more than an hour and be set to start once the TV is turned off, or start immediately where it will turn the TV off and run the Pixel Refresher then turn the TV back on when the Pixel Refresher is done. The second feature, the Screen Shift moves the screen at regular intervals to prevent image sticking on the display panel. The third feature is Logo Luminance Adjustment, which as the name suggests, adjusts the luminance of static images such as logos with content to correct potential picture quality issues...^IFV

Q: QuestionHas the new OLED tv's improved their "burn in" problem?
Asked by Wally
- A:Answer Hi Wally. Burn-in and image retention are possible on virtually any display. It is rare for an average TV consumer to create an environment that could result in burn-in. Most cases of burn-in in televisions is a result of static images or on-screen elements displaying on the screen uninterrupted for many hours or days at a time – with brightness typically at peak levels. So, it is possible to create image retention in almost any display if one really tries hard enough. And even if image retention does occur from extreme usage, it can usually be mitigated within a short period of time by turning the display off for a while, and watching a few hours of varying content (such as your standard TV watching and channel-surfing). However, with an LG OLED TV, any risk of burn-in or image retention have been addressed through the use of technology that not only helps protect against damage to the screen, but features self-healing properties so that any short-term image retention that may occur is quickly rectified. The LG C9 55 inch Class 4K Smart OLED TV w/ AI ThinQ® (54.6'' Diag), Model # OLED55C9PUA and all our OLED lineup come with special features and settings to preserve image quality and prevent burn in and image retention. First, in the OLED Panel Settings, there is a feature called Pixel Refresher. This feature calibrates any issues that may arise on the screen when your TV has been turned on for a long time. Calibration takes more than an hour. It can be initiated once the TV is turned off or if it is turned on while the TV is on, it will turn the TV off immediately and the TV will automatically turn on when it is done. Then there the Screen Shift feature that moves the screen slightly at regular intervals to prevent images from sticking on the display panel. The third feature is Logo Luminance Adjustment. This feature adjusts the luminance of static images such as logos, within content to correct potential picture quality issues...^IFV

Q: QuestionHi, will this TV work in Europe - 220 Volt and all? Thank you in advance for your help- Best regards
Asked by Chillablume
- A:Answer Not likely: Both the TV label and the LG specs say it is 120V 50/60 Hz, There is no mention of 220V. The bigger problem however, is that European TV format and US TV formats are different, and there is no mention I can find anywhere that the TV will decode European format signals. I don't doubt, however, that LG sells a European version of this TV, but probably only in Europe.
