Admittedly, I've had this washer for only 4 days. However, it lives up to all of the hype. I had been looking at getting the less expensive LG model - this washer was totally worth spending more money on.
The options are fantastic, the noise level is insanely low, and the amount of water it uses is minimal compared to our old top load non-HE washer. I think water usage is around 10-15% of what is was per load. The one thing I noticed is that the washer, when washing towels and bathroom mats had a hard time self leveling (spinning to distribute the weight to reduce vibration). I removed the bath mats and it went on about its business. I have no doubt it would have corrected itself naturally, but this saved a little time.
Did I say it was quiet? With the slotted doors closed, a barely audible hum comes from the closet. I chose to stack the units which not only makes for an impressive combo, but also freed up a ton of room for shelves in the closet.
DIY installation was easy. For the washer, everything is there for you. Use the LG hoses, they are better than anything you'd buy at a big box store. Leveling was easy, even on an uneven tile floor.
I gave 4 stars simply because I have not had the washer/dryer long enough to gauge reliability - but others have confirmed they are reliable.
On the dryer - all the same great things about the matching dryer. Installation was easy (new gas line, new duct from dryer to wall and duct tape...do not use screws.) It is quiet, low vibration and even stacked, has maybe 1/8-1/16" of sway at the top with the washer and dryer running at the same time (this is nothing, and is a compliment).
I would recommend this to anyone looking to buy a new washer/dryer that wants to spend a little more for quiet and bells/whistles.

We bought this during the frenzy of Appliance Weekend. It was only available by ordering it so we had to wait a week to receive it. I was impressed because of its rating on Consumer Reports. We couldn't believe how quiet it is. I had always heard that it had to be on a sturdy floor but it doesn't shake the floor near as bad as our top loader. I don't like having to wipe down the seal but I'll do it since it does such a great job cleaning.

I purchased this washer about a year ago and have been impressed with its performance and reliability. No problems whatsoever. Gets clothes clean and I love the sanitization mode for clothes I wear at work (Healthcare).
It was pricey but so far has been well worth it. Quiet, gets clothes clean without excessive wear & tear on them. Have been able to wash big comforters and bulky items with ease, no more trips to a laundromat for a large capacity machine.
I would reccomend the pedastal to avoid back pain from bending to retrieve garments. I have noticed no more odor than any other washer, even top loaders, and it is easily cured with a monthly cleaning cycle.
In summary, significant investment up front, but has been worth it to me with great performance and rock solid reliability.

Fantastic washer with only one minor flaw

This is my second steam washer. I had the TROMM for years and just replaced it. The new one is 4.2 vs 40 cubic feet. I love the extra features on this model and col water wash feature. Our child had a grape popsicle and painted his white shirt with it. The normal steam cycle got all of the stains. The door is larger than the last washer and I look forward to using the cycle to get ris of allergens. My only beef is the end of cycle notification which is quite faint, even on the loudest setting. I have always been a fan of LG and love the product! Big capacity translates into saved dollars.

I bought this Washer and Gas dryer pair during the rebate hype and have to admit, I'm pleasantly surprised. I had never used a low water flow washer and was skeptical that it would clean. When I ran my first couple of loads, I turned the interior light on to see 2 jets spraying out of the interior nozzle and a third shooting left. I couldn't believe that this was working correctly. I called customer service and didn't get the answer that I wanted (set up a service call). I called back and was quite pushy. The representative went into a back room where he ran the washer to report that the 3 jets was correct. Pretty picky I know, but when you put some money down on this, it's kind of your baby and you want to have good support. The salesman at Best Buy pushed me over the top when he said this was a direct drive motor was superior to the other models and it had a 10 year warranty. I agree with the other comment that the clothes come out practically dry. I have to admit that there are more settings than I will need, but it is nice to have. I did stain some shorts and the stain setting wash seemed to do a good job working out the stain. The Gas Dryer pair is really quite good. I've never seen a dryer come out the way you want it. You want it slightly damp, it's slightly damp. You want it dry it's dry. The set is really working for me. This will sound kind of ridiculous, but I actually look forward to using the washing machine... I would recommend the pedestals as well as they elevate the door to a reasonable hight.

Best Buy Lake Geneva

Ok, first, I really do enjoy shopping at Best Buy. I am a reward silver member several times over. I must say the people at Lake Geneva are really awesome. They know how to get things handled. I bought an open box item of this washer and got an excellent deal, it really turned out to be so low, I feel like I shouldn't mention it here other than to say I got almost 1/3rd off the retail price. I got the open box item and it was scratched on the door pretty badly. The manager stated he would have a door sent out before I even bought the machine. I got the machine at my house and it was the first time I saw it because I bought it over the phone. It became apparent it was dropped at some point because there were dents all over the front of it. I called and the manager stated he would just send me a new one in the box for the same price I got the open box one for. It came a week later and it seems to be a newer upgraded model perhaps because it has different emblems on it than the previous one did. I can't tell you how impressed I have been from the start of this situation. I know it took some doing but I have a pretty laid back approach because things always seem to happen, but it has certainly worked out in the end. I think the washer was certainly worth the money that I paid, i had to replace it from the similar high end LG because the model I had vibrated too much for a second story installation. Very nice, pretty quiet, although its a washer, its going to make noise, oh well. The anti vibration is excellent. It used to shake my whole house, now I can only hear it running, thank you LG, thank you Best Buy.

Great upgrade Washer!

This LG washer has been everything it is claimed to be. I did a lot of research and read a lot of reviews before purchasing this unit. It is extremely quiet, we keep it in our back room which is connected to the kitchen and aside from walking back and forth from room to room I wouldn't know it running. I would reccomend reading the maunual section for the cycles. I know how to wash clothes, but with all of the options, it was nice to have a guide to tell me what to put where. Our old washer went out so we needed a new one immediately. We opted to pick up the washer and dryer ourselves and installed them as well. As long as you take the shipping bolts out of the back, connect the water and make sure the machine is level, it was a breeze to install!
We have had no problems with our clothes smelling, in fact they have come out super clean and a lot more dry after spinning. We have a 15 month old who is infatuated with getting into everything, so the child lock is nice so that he cannot play with the buttons, however he is tall enougt that he can play with the knob and the units are a little low so we decided to go back and purchase the pedestals. I am very gad we did, it is more convienent and looks great! The only everyday maintainence we have to do is wipe out the seal and keep the door cracked over night, to prevent mold.
We are saving water and soap with this new washing machine and so far we love it!

We've had this for about six months and it's been a workhorse for our family of six. It replaced a Sears HE3T washer, which was great, but not quite big enough for our growing family. The LG handles everything up to Full size comforters and King size blankets (the King comforter still goes to the local cleaners). Once it's finished the initial water loading, it is essentially silent. It has a super-fast spin which leaves towels and blankets almost dry, saving time in the dryer. We also bought the stands, which raise the load center to an easy height and give it a cool high tech look.
A:AnswerRun the TUB CLEAN+ cycle regularly to remove detergent buildup and other residue.
If you use the TUB CLEAN+ cycle on a monthly basis, the wash drum will be kept clean.
A:AnswerLG uses TrueSteam™ technology that penetrates fabrics with powerful real steam, eliminating dirt, odors and wrinkles with lower water consumption than conventional washes.
A:AnswerI wouldn't say that but the WM3875HVCA has a larger capacity (4.2 cu.ft.) and higher RPM of 1400, it also has a few more options and cycles than the WM3470HWA.
