    LifeProof is NOT what it used to be..

    I've had 4 previous LifeProof products in years past, and they were all great. These new models (since Otterbox took over the company) are not at all what they used to be. Quality has dropped dramatically. I'll list my pros and cons for this specific case below, however, I will never purchase another LifeProof product again. iPhone 7 LifeProof FrÊ Pros •Looks good •Fairly lightweight & slim •Lots of color options Cons •Very cheap plastic •Sharp corners/edges that are uncomfortable and jagged against fingers & hands •NOT as water-resistant as claimed •Built in screen protector is very low quality (it doesn't sit flush against the device so you can feel it when you press the screen, screen is now less responsive, and visually it's not completely clear; it's very low quality and has a grainy rainbow effect) •Case has gaps in different places all around and doesn't properly close in each area •WAY too expensive for what you're getting. Absolutely NOT worth the price •Extremely uncomfortable and sharp edges around TouchID sensor •Because the plastic is so bad and cheaply produced, I definitely wouldn't trust this to protect much at all in a drop scenario. And even if it does protect the device inside, the plastic is so cheap that the case will be ruined and damaged. So it may save your device, but you may still be out a case that costs in the $100 range. Not worth it and not cost effective. I dunno.. these are not anywhere near the quality of the old LifeProof products. I'm still within the return window, so I'm pretty sure I'll be returning this later on this evening.

    Muffled speach

    This review is posted 5/22/18. I bought this case 4/7/18 to replace my otter box defender, come to find out the person on the other end of the line can’t hear me on speaker phone, and my voice is muffled off speaker. Did some research online and found multiple complaints, phone carriers blaming cases, cases blaming carriers. The “solution” was to open the lightning charge port to “uncover” the microphone. I’ve tried opening the lightning port, didn’t help at all, I have to practically yell in the phone for the other person to hear me. Save your money, life proof isn’t what they used to be. The cases for the iPhone 6 didn’t have this problem at all. I’m 28, everyone from my wife, to parents, to customer service reps with companies I order from, to my coworkers all have the same complaint when I call. None of these problems happened with the otter box, I will be switching back, and hopefully trying to return this case for a refund.

    This is the fourth LifeProof FRE case I have gotten. I got one for my iPhone 6. Then I got one for my iPhone 7 Plus when I upgraded. For my next update, I got the LifeProof FRE case for my iPhone 8. Then, I got one for my friend who has the iPhone 7. We love our LifeProof cases and cannot get enough of them! I ride horses and love the fact that I am able to use my phone even when it's raining outside. I babysit in the summer and have even taken underwater photos in the pool with the kids. These phone case are always reliable and add a fun aspect! The only downfall is sometimes the speakers for FaceTime and phone calls don't work as well because of the coverings, but it is manageable.

    Returned after phone died in water

    I followed directions, ran waterproof test and it passed, but when I really needed (submerged in swimming pool by accident), the case failed and phone died. I had to get a new screen and mic and speakers still not working. I thought Lifeproof guaranteed their product, but it turns out that I had to register the product with them. The problem is the product guarantee instruction, including product registration number was not included in the box when I bought it from Best Buy, hence I had no idea how I can be protected when things like this happened.

    Non clashing colors and slim case!

    I ordered not knowing if the aqua/"coral" would go with the rose gold iPhone 7, but it looks seamless! Some of the models have colors with more of a punch that just don't work. More importantly, the phone is entirely covered for total waterproof security and the buttons and touchscreen are surprisingly easy to work with compared to others I've used. The case is lightweight and not bulky at all. It snaps apart fairly quickly and doesn't drive you crazy opening and closing and charging port cover that's near impossible to open. Great buy for the brand and got at an awesome sale price for the holidays.

    Cannot understand anything being said

    Took us a bit to figure out that the problem was the case and not the phone. When you talk on the phone with the case on, the person on the other end cannot understand anything you say - it is horribly muffled. Take the case off and they can understand you fine. Very disappointed and reading others are having the same problem. Best Buy said I have to contact LifeProof directly despite only recently having bought this from Best Buy. Hoping LifeProof will make this right.

    OK case for some extra protection

    Lifeproof was always the goto case in the past for iPhone protection. This was my 4th Lifeproof FRE case. It continues to offer a decent job of protecting the phone from low speed drops with the added moisture protection above what the new iPhones offer. However, the quality of Lifeproof FRE cases has declined from the first model I have owned, possibly because Otterbox bought the company. The materials aren't quite as rugged. Probably fine for most if you take care of it, but I find it somewhat disappointing considering the high price for these cases.

    This product performs amazing protection for your phone. It can be dropped without damage to screen or phone. It provides water tight protection to the phone. It allows the selections on screen to work flawlessly. As a minor drawback I could neither hear what any one said on the phone nor could they hear me. For that reason the phone app was useless to me. Had I been using blue tooth earphones or headset it probably would have been fine. It worked well in my car though the blue tooth connection.
