Wonderful when it works
||Posted .Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed.I first purchased this two years ago as something of an impulse purchase in store but was VERY happy with it. Set up was a bit more frustrating than it should have been, but the final result was stunning (see photo), and Alexa integration was seamless. The app is also very useful. The problem: this particular bulb died just after the warranty expired (vice the 20+ years they advertise). So a couple of weeks ago I ordered a new one--which didn't work right from the get-go (randomly cycling on and off of its own accord). I sent an email to LIFX support and, after 5 days, received a "sorry, we're working on it" response. I returned it today and ordered a replacement because (a) the original bulb was great while it lasted, (b) I have another A19 (non-IR) LIFX bulb which has worked fine, and (c) I'm an optimist and hope that I've just had really bad luck. Nevertheless, 2 failures out of 3 bulbs in not reassuring, nor is LIFX's rather laggard response. I may update this review based on bulb 4 and what LIFX says when they finally get back to me. But in the meantime, buyer bewitched, buyer beware!

Works well. LED directional vs full room light.
||Posted .After buying an Apple HomePod, I picked up the LIFX + A19 Wi-Fi LED Smartbulb - Multicolor and Infrared put it in a contemporary lamp. It's nice to be able to say, "Hey Siri, turn on/off the bedroom light," from the comfort of my bed without messing with any switches. The technology was very easy to set up and has worked well. Fun to set different colors/moods (see images). My only complaint is that I would like to see more powerful "room filling" light (diffused light). This is LIFX's highest power light at 1100 lumens and I'd like something that lights the room more fully. Not sure I needed the infrared which is more helpful for outdoor locations where one might use a security camera. Bought a second smart bulb (same one without the Infrared) to replace a 1500 watt compact fluorescent bulb (CFL) and it provides much less lighting for the room than the former. Researched the limitations of LEDs: LED, which stands for "light-emitting diode," is a lighting technology that is long-lasting and extremely energy-efficient, but they're not ready to supplant all other bulbs yet. For one, they provide only directional light, not diffused light, making them ideal for under-counter task lighting, but not general room illumination. To overcome this, new models consist of large arrays of LEDs clustered together, but at prices from five to six times higher than CFLs, the bulbs are not for everybody.

Stellar Outdoor "Smart" bulb.
||Posted .Owned for 2 months when reviewed.Purchased this LIFX A19 to replace the LIFX A7 for outdoor use and couldn't be more pleased. The A19 connected seamlessly to my home network and I was very impressed. It hasn't disconnected like the A7 used to all the time. The included Nightvision makes a big difference with my outdoor camera quality too. LIFX really hit it out of the park with this one.

Love these!
||Posted .These lights go hand-in-hand with my Echo Dot and I can control them with my voice like I've want since watching Star Trek TNG all those years ago. Added bonus, does not require a hub like Hue! Screw it in, and within minutes you're setup!

Multi function bulb
||Posted .Use these for various schemes through the house. This new one has infrared which helps our cameras see well at night. Caveat - your nest came has to be in night vision mode and the infrared is on when color or white light on bulb is off. You don't have any control to just turn IR on - wish it did

Lifx smart light (A19/A60) reviewSmart lighting is without a doubt one of the most useful – and most fun – elements of the smart home. The ability to make your lights turn on, dim, and even change color, all just using your voice, starts off as incredibly novel, and swiftly

Q: QuestionWhat's the main differences between this 80 dollar Lifx bulb and the lesser 60 dollar bulb? I plan to use in nightstand lamps to simulate sunrise to wake up. Which would be better.
Asked by lsa196.
- A:Answer The normal A19 LIFX bulb only does RGBW. The LIFX+ bulb also does Infrared for night vision on security cameras or infant monitors. The plus bulbs have the option to turn off the light and turn on infrared light that is invisible to people and works amazingly well in places like nursery’s or places where your security system may not see well at night.

Q: QuestionDo these work directly with Alexa without using IFTTT? If so, can you name the bulb like you do with Hue? I want to say is, "Alexa, turn off Master Bedroom Light." and have it work.
Asked by Johnny2265.
- A:Answer Yes you can add it to Alexa without IFTTT. You can name each bulb you add to lifx during setup. Or change it afterwards as well.
