This is the first time I have used external speakers for a laptop since the newer laptops speakers are just awful unless you spend abt $600 for gaming mode. I have had many speakers for desktops and I will compare these to my past purchases. They are loud, have good base, have a protective hinge so they will fit any size laptop, iPad and don't easily fall off. The protective case is a joke. It is only a light weight cloth bag. If you are going to be carrying these speakers around you will have to buy a hard case. The only upgrade I may choice is a bluetooth. I am in heaven.
