Lost Planet 2 is right for some, not all

Lost Planet 2 is a good game for a certain type of gamer. You will get to fight building-size bugs, salamanders and worm things either on foot or while decked out in battle suits. If you can get a few friends online you can take down these monsters together - even from inside one of the beasts! New to the series is new environments (not just snow!) and a much greater variety of Akrids (enemy creatures).
The campaign storyline is almost nonexistent in the first half of the game and never escapes being confusing. Sometimes you literally have no clue who you are or what you're doing. You basically fight for a while as a member of each of several factions, enjoying separate but parallel adventures before being called to unite together in the final act. It helps to have played the first game from the single-player perspective for insights into NEVEC, the snow pirates and the planet.
The monster-size bosses are amazing and at hard difficulty, nigh impossible to beat unless you plan to spend an entire day in the attempt. Lost Planet 2 is a Japanese-made game after all and they like them ninja-tough. Play on normal, at least the first time through.
Multi-player can be vicious for a starting player. Upgrade to more dominant default weapons as you play by collecting boxes that are left behind by some of the casualties.
There is a learning curve to this game but beating down monster bug invasions in one of many different battle suits is definitely a cool gaming experience.

This game is a continuation and follows the storyline of the first. I admit that some one new to the game might find a lack of story but it is all explained in the first and this is just a battle for edn 3 after colonization. The graphics are incredible and the sound effects are very good. The sound may not compare to bad company but are good non the less. The controls feel awkward especially if you never played the first game. the overall concept of the coop and multi player are new and refreshing. The customization of the multiplayer characters are fantastic, I just wish you could customize the ingame character but that is understandable. The only thing that I did not like was that the achievements for the most part are secret. The game has a nice assortment of weapons to keep gameplay fresh and now they took out the movement limitations when carying the vs weapons. The previous limitations when carrying those vs weapons were clearly understandable but without them it makes the game more fluid and fun. I love the game and only gave it a 4 overall because I am also a fan of gears of war and use that as my standard.

Pros: One of the best (online) co-op games for 360. If you are someone who likes to unlock things (character parts, weapons, etc.) this game will steal hours of your life. Sound is crisp, and it matches the theme of the game well. The visuals are very impressive, considering the amount of action that goes on. The controls (while clunky at first) are easy to master, and once you get acquainted with them you can pull of some impressive "Action Hero" moments.
Cons: The story is confusing at first, but the last couple missions clear things up, and the campaign is relatively short. Split screen multiplayer always cuts the screen into 4 parts (even if there are only 2 people) and this makes it hard to see what's going on at times.
Overall: If you enjoyed the first Lost Planet, and you will enjoy this one. The addition of up to 4-player co-op campaign is awesome.

Underrated Game, It is Very Good

In this review I will talk about cooperative play and online verses.
Coop: Cooperative play is a strong point in this game. It is very fun to play with a friend or someone, as it doesn't seem as fun when playing alone.
p.s. The campaign is similar to modern warfare's as you won't care much for the story.
Online: Lost Planet 2's online is very fun and addictive. It is stressful to get into matches though as it doesn't necessarily use a matchmaking system, but forced to join a host's game.
Overall - It is a good game to pick up, especially if you have played the first.

Lost And Maybe Forgotten

Lost Planet 2 is set 10 years after the first game. This game finds the frozen world of E.D.N. III undergoing a dramatic change.Once an arctic wasteland is now given way to tropical jungles and deserts. The gigantic,insect-like creatures known as the Akrid have also adapted to the changes. The boss battles in the game can be a little staggering, their so big you have to fight them from the inside.Theirs also vital suits, ranging from small battle size to the large multiple passenger variety, these suits let you bring serious firepower to the battlefield. The game also lets you rip off some of the suits guns and carry it into battle. Then theirs the multiplayer,up to 16 players can play online in a variety of game modes.Even story mode allows you to team up with other players. The boss battles in the game are just way to hard to play alone even with A.I. support, this game is geared for human co-op.The smaller enemies in the game just seem under sized and just plain forgettable. The game also has a frustrating save system, and poor targeting mechanics, which is vital for tagging giant enemies sweet spots. It's a pretty good game, but like most games today it's all about the multiplayer.

I was suggested this game over a fps from the employee in the game area. It was a mistake to take this one if you are a lone gamer. The AI work well in the game, except that you need more firepower to kill the giant bosses. The story is repetitive and the action is not up to a Gears of War level. There needs to be a better weapon selection and if you run out of ammo the button to change weapons doesn't always change the weapons till after you die.

I bought this game several weeks ago and from the first day i got it i realized how awesome this game was. Graphics are really good especially for how big this game is. I first played through campaign on solo and it was actually very fun, but the online co-op made it even better, this isnt one of those rush in and blow everything into pieces game, you gotta use tactics or else you end up dying......a lot..... The only thing that bugs me is that when your getting hit you can't change your gun or chuck a grenade unless you run to cover first or stop getting hit. I have been playing this game ever since i got it and i am still having fun with it. Online multiplayer is fun, campaign is fun and long, and the character customizations makes it all the better.

Lost Planet 2 is an OK game. The only good quality it has is the multi-player and even that isn't so great. The campaign doesn't have a good story.
