This bag allows me to head out on a wildlife cruise or sailing shoot with a single bag. I can fit a D500 or D800 with an attached 18-300 or 70-200 a couple of extra lenses or flash if needed, filters, batteries, etc., an attached Black Rapid Yeti strap. I carry an iPad and a couple of hats in the laptop/tablet compartment and there is still plenty of room for a 15" MAC. The top compartment holds a fleece or Thinktank rain-guard plus a full-sized pair of binoculars, glasses, sunscreen and could hold more. The height and zipper location are perfect for reaching down and removing the binoculars without lifting it off the deck. Under the flap on the back is another compartment large enough to hold-rain sleeves or a couple of DVD sized items plus the flap can be used to lash a windbreaker. The lashing straps could be longer in my opinion but I am able to fit an XL sized rain jacket/windbreaker securely. There is a water bottle/tripod leg pocket that fits a good sized bottle very securely. Haven't tried the rain cover but it is there. The strap system is also great. I have worn it for a couple of hours, fully loaded, and not been uncomfortable. Up ladders, down stairs, in cramped quarters - the bag is very stable and the chest cross-strap works well. Another nice feature is that the straps can be fully tightened and lashed flush against the back so that there is nothing for anyone else to trip on when you need to place the pack on the deck/floor between your legs while shooting. There are a few weak points: It is possible but not easy to remove the camera while supporting the bag by one strap but this is not really a sling...it's a large camera pack. It really could use a few more lashing points for gear or preventing it from moving around. The most serious weakness, IMHO, is that the adjustable foam dividers are a little too long and can't be shortened, there aren't enough of them and they are oddly-designed, and there are not enough velcro points on the sides so the camera and lens just doesn't fit quite right. I worked-around it but a pro camera users might find it difficult to close the zipper. It's not an out of the park hit, but it's still a home run.

I bought this bag to protect a new Canon 70D camera body, two lenses, a flash, several batteries, and some memory cards, along with assorted accessories like battery chargers, etc. I also wanted something that would protect my iPad when I could not lock it away in the hotel safe during the days. I had read reviews both here and other sites of bags that did not hold up over time, that either had the fabric rip, or zippers break. This bag held its own and then some. I was a little more rough with the bag than I care to admit, yet it protected my gear perfectly, all zippers returned home in working order, and the fabric of the bag looks as if it were brand new. The bag also has a large area to carry other items (non-camera related, if needed). At times I had a jacket stuffed in it, and other times I had my noise cancelling headphones, and things I would need on a plane or bus. The strap that would be used to keep a tripod attached to the bag was especially useful for me to hold my airplane neck-pillow while navigating the airports. The only negative (if you can call it that), is that I wish the documentation were clear as to where the protective "rain hood" was for this bag. It took me a while to figure it out that it was under the bag, and not fully detachable (presumably to prevent it from being misplaced/lost), and in its own little pocket. Overall, this is a very nice bag with many possibilities. I would highly recommend anyone looking for this size bag to get it.

The new Lowepro Fastback BP250 AW II is greatly improved over the original model. It is larger in size, made with better materials, uses higher quality zippers, and comes with additional compartments for a 15-inch laptop and tablet. Camera storage can easily hold a DSLR (cropped sensor) with lens attached with room for two more lenses. There are also smaller slots for accessories like battery and chargers and memory cards. The top compartment has great versatility with room for a cell phone, headphones, books and other travel items. Inside there is a zippered compartment to secure your passport, currency and other important documents. The zippers have been upgraded and their eyelets have enough clearance to support a TSA-approved lock. An all-weather cover is integrated into the bottom of the backpack. There is an attachment for a tripod and the backpack can be secured to your luggage. Fully-loaded the backpack feels well-balanced and the padding of the straps provide good comfort. There is also room for a water bottle or travel umbrella. Aside from the Lowepro brand name on the front, the Fastback BP 250 AW II looks like any other backpack.

Because of my need to preserve visual evidence for work becoming the rule rather than the exception, I needed to have a means of transporting both my HD Camcorder with its attachments and my still photography cameras, both digital and analog, with their respective attachments and accessories. While I was aware of the Lowepro brand, it was not until a friend of mine (a serious photographer) informed me, that given the cost of my cameras, under no circumstances should I skimp on a transport system. He showed me his array of Lowepro bags and spoke so highly of the brand that I knew that I should seek out their products. Enter Best Buy and the helpful sales associate Ramon, who helped me pick this all weather backpack that is both roomy, and weatherproof. Its design features easy access compartments for your cameras, lenses, charging cords, spare SD cards, etc. . A special bonus is that it has a roomy internal pocket for a laptop. This means that I can go to a site with my tripod, lighting, spare mikes and my editing laptop.all in a well balanced backpack that distributes the weight evenly and fits over seasonal light outerwear. I haven't tried putting it on over my winter parka, but, I've had no problem putting it on over my fleece zip ups that I favor in the fall and early winter. Putting it on over a rain poncho should be no problem either. Overall, Lowepro hit a home run with this backpack.

I have been carrying this bag every day for over a month. Comfortable to carry. Sturdy construction. Weather resistant with additional rain cover built in. I carry a Canon 80D with the battery grip and the 24-70 lens attached. It fits nicely in the side access section of the bag, allowing quick access to the camera. I also carry several lenses and other accessories which have plenty of room in the adjustable gear section of the bag. The most impressive part of the bag... and one of the most important features to me, is the separate, zippered compartment for a laptop and tablet. You can access those items without exposing the camera or gear. My only complaints are minor. The suspended tablet slot in the bag is too small to hold a 10" tablet if it has any type of case or sleeve on it. A tablet does fit in the laptop space with a laptop if the laptop isn't real thick. The tripod strap and the way it allows movement of the tripod when in transit, could be designed to hold the tripod tighter into the side of the bag. It works great for a monopod, but could be better for a tripod. Overall, the bag performs great and carries everything I need.

I would recommend this backpack to anyone looking for a backpack. Backpacks aren't for everyone. It depends on your shooting style, the equipment you own, and whether you prefer backpacks vs "regular" camera bags. The side zipper opening allows quick and easy access to your camera without the need to open up the entire backpack. If you own a minimal amount of equipment or smaller camera bodies (ie a single APS-C body and one lens, or maybe a mirrorless body and one or 2 lenses, you might find this bag to be too big for your needs. If you own several full-frame bodies and 3, 4, or 5 larger lenses, this bag will probably be too small. I have a D7200 and D500 along with several smaller-sized lenses, speedlight, monopod, spare batteries, charger, filters, and a few other miscellaneous bits of gear. When I travel and want to take "everything", I mount a lens on one camera so its ready to shoot and leave the lens off the second camera so I can fit everything in the bag. If I want to travel a little lighter for a day trip, I leave some unnecessary things at home and mount lenses on both cameras. Overall, a good mid-sized backpack.

This is a great, sturdy, and good looking bag. It holds plenty for most people. The only reason I didn't give this 5 stars is the tablet pocket is a little too snug for a 10.5" iPad Pro with Smart Keyboard and I wish the pocket arrangement in the camera compartment was a bit better. I often struggle with the number of lenses I'd like to carry with me. The configuration isn't as flexible as I'd hope it to be, as the three varying sections aren't equal. The middle and bottom side are about the same width, but the top side is narrower eliminating the option of having a lens in there. But I'd imagine for most people that are looking for a camera bag that can also hold their laptop/tablet, and have pockets for other misc. items (chargers, cables, SD cards, etc.) this bag will easily serve them quite well.

I'm a relentless researcher when it comes to bags, and this one has unexpectantly become one of my favorites, (if not my favorite). With its multiple compartments, handy organization & comfortable padding, it safely holds a significant amount of gear comfortably. In the bottom compartment alone I'm able to carry a Canon Mark III 5d with an attached 70-200, 35mm, 100mm, 2 600EX II-RT Speedlights, and an LCD light. On the outside bottom flap - an ND fliter, in the top compartments: a small purse, a large phone, a hard drive, and other bits and pieces (like keys, pens, sunglasses, extra camera battery & battery charger). And last but not least, a 15" Macbook in back. This seems pretty phenomenal considering its relatively small size and level of comfort - particularly since I'm a short woman, and not particularly strong. For times when I need to carry any more equipment than the aforementioned, I use a roller bag instead as it would be just too much weight to manage on my shoulders in any bag. I would recommend at this point without reservation.
