It can be somewhat fun minus a few problems

I got this game for my birthday and was real excited about it. I played a game of Franchise then the My Player Mode and was very impressed with it . Coming from The Show to 2K11 the interface was very different but I got used to it. The controls were different too mainly the hitting and fielding but I also got used to and enjoy it now. Some things are kind of frustrating though such as all the injuries. Playing with the Braves I've had 6 starters injuried at the same time and currently have 3 of my starting pitchers and 2 starting position players. I understand the occasional injury but it's getting riduclous so I chenged the injury frequency from 50 to 35 yet my players are still getting hurt a lot in Franchise mode. The stealing is also very difficult for me to and you have to be perfect when trying to otherwise you'll get picked off or in a pickle. I'm also having problems with the game freezing too but only in one specific scenario and that is when I save and quit from Franchise mode and go directly back to the main menu it will freeze on m. This probably has to do with the game being scratche or the console but I've never dropped the game and the console is only about a year old plus it doens't do it to any other game. I also had another random glitch and this was after I walked a left handed batter and a right handed batter had come to the plate yet the last batter was still at the plate and he didn't leave until the atbat was over. The next half innng I was hitting and someone was sitting in the middle of the infield and it didn't interefere with the game though. Minus some of these irratating problems though it can still be a fun game to play.

Basically, it's 2K10 with updated rosters.

Okay, there are a few tweaks here and there in MLB 2K11, but oh they are so minor. Other than fielding and a new career mode, it's basically the SAME as 2K10 with an updated present day roster. What remains the same is the extreme difficulty when it comes to hitting ANY pitch from a batter's perspective (it's feast or famine, you're either going to make contact or strike out) and this is at Pro difficulty. Putting the sliders to Rookie does help a bit. But the feast of famine hitting is the same as in 2K10. Some of the mannerisms that your favorite players have are the same. BUT, when it comes to instant replay, that same herky jerky swing motion after a batter makes a hit is horrible. I've never seen a sweet swing get portrayed so awfully in 2K10 and 2K11. It's as if 2K Sports released an updated version of 2K10 and called it 2K11. What a disappointment. It's too bad MLB The Show is exclusive for PS3 owners only.

Decent Baseball Game

MLB 2K10 was big step up from what 2K9 was offering, but for this year that isn't the case. MLB 2K11 adds some minor features like a new fielding system, MLB Today, and a few more, though the overall experience I've with this game is good it isn't up to par with PlayStation 3's MLB The Show. The one thing I hate about all 2K sports games is that when you play in an online match it tends to have a lag that makes it hard to enjoy the game, all in all this is a good baseball game that is heading in the right direction, but for now needs some work.

This game has great graphics and plays well. It is pretty much the same as 2K10 except that 2k10 did not have a freezing problem. 2K11 seams to freeze about every 8-10 games. I have friends who have the game also and are having the same problem. We all have new 360's and have played hundreds of games and dont have the freezing problem that you get with MLB 2K11. That is why it only gets 3 stars instead of 4 or 5.

I have been playing this game for a few months now and have come up with these issues:
The hitting is really really hard for someone who is not an excellent gamer. I have changed the gameplay difficulty sliders all around and they have done absolutely nothing. How realistic is someone hitting 15 foul balls in a row? I am constantly hitting fly outs behind home plate to the catcher. I have only been able to to put the ball in play 3 times while using the power swing. Every time I use it( I try a lot), I hit a foul ball. I have tried soo many different timings on the swing and the results are almost always the same. I know they are trying to be realistic, but from my experience, this is the WORST hitting for a baseball game EVER. Maybe it is me, but I have read a lot of people having the same problems. 95% of the articles I find, are of people trying to figure out how to hit on this game. I tried messing around for about 20 games with having the fielding errors and throwing errors of the cpu really high. The result in my 20 games of having it at 100%, 95%, and 90% are the same, the cpu has yet to make an error. Now that doesn't seem right and I've slid it the other way and the same thing happens, no errors. What is the point of difficulty sliders if they do not work. I will say that the baserunning and field running sliders do work ok and the same with throwing strength. That is pretty much it. The only good thing on this game is the pitching. The way you pitch in this game is pretty good. For that reason this game gets 2 stars. I would give this game negative stars for the hitting and slider difficulty option. Overall, if you want a baseball game for xbox, your stuck with 2k sports. If you also have a ps3, buy the show. It is way better and alot more fun.

The best baseball game I've played

MLB2K11 isn't perfect, but it is very very good. It suffered from freezes when I first bought it (the day it came out), but after the patches, it is very rare that the game freezes on me. Similar with the online play, which initially, even the slightest lag made it very difficult to play online. After a patch or two, it was significantly improved. Perfect? No. However, in my opinion, if you are more of a baseball person than a hardcore gamer, you'll appreciate MLB2K11. The presentation is spot on (although like most games, can get repetitive). The hitting and pitching controls are very intuitive and you feel far more in touch with the game than simple button pushes used in baseball games in the past. I'm definitely glad I picked up this game.

don't listen to people about glitches and other issues. They are the people that love exposing the glitches in games. Every game has it's glitches (we all know this if we play call of duty) I play this game and it always ends up being a realistic result by the end of the game. Everything about this game has the feel of playing a realistic simulated game. Pitching in this game is better than MLB the Show. Batting is challenging in this game just like it is in real life. Base running is easy when you get the hang of it, it's easy to control all or individual runners. If you heard any rumors about glitches making the game unfair or unplayable let me tell you that they patched it up and the game is solid. The graphics don't compare to MLB the show but remember that is a PS3 exclusive game and xbox just can't compete in graphics. playing online can be annoying because people still love to play pickle instead of real style baseball. The commentary is updated as the season progresses and so do the real time stats. The best thing about this game is how realistic the pitching is. The rest of the game is solid (batting, base running, fielding, commentary) the only downside is some character models don't look exactly like the player does. The worst thing about the game is playing online with a child.

The my player is fantastic. The ballparks are so realistic. So fun and can play for hours at a time.
