Q: Will this unit allow the use of a preamp or what units with 7.2 will
A: You can Use this as a pre- amp . It has 7 channel pre- outs so you can add a 2 to 7 channel power amp to increase the power to any of the sev en channels you want. I added a 2-channel power amp to drive the front speakers
A: You see the bar on the monitor screen when turning the volume up or down if you went into settings on the sr5014 and turned it on. the bar can be on the top or bottom of the screen.
A: Yes, the receiver easily gives you a range of 40 feet and beyond. I’ve connected via blue tooth many times while not in direct sight of the receiver on the second floor of my home.
Q: Does this have full HDMI 2.1 support?
A: Yes it does.
Q: Can someone tell me where the Marantz AV Receivers are made? US or China?
A: Vietnam until you get above about $3000, then they are build in Japan.
A: In this day of global competition it is hard to pick where your product is made. The SR-5014 that I have is built in Vietnam. I prefer things that are built in non-communist countries. I feel sure if you have looked at the "MADE IN ..." statement on any box in a store it is increasingly difficult to do that. I have not had my receiver very long but so-far-so-good. MARANTZ has always made a very good product and it appears they still do. If you choose, today you can but adapters to and from almost anything to HDMI. You might try that or just feed the TV directly from the source to the TV for now, and feed the TV audio back to the receiver for that great MARANTZ sound. You do need a new TV for more than one reason. Glad to hear the old plasma TV is still working for you. New HDMI cables have come way down in price. There are still people charging a lot but they are not necessary. Just look at data speed. Have fun and keep listening.
A: No, you still need to connect the 5014 to the TV with an HDMI cable directly. The receiver cannot transmit video via Bluetooth.
Q: Can I connect a "rabbit ears" TV antenna for over-the-air video reception to this receiver?
A: No, none of our receivers have an RF coaxial input. You can use a digital box that allows you to connect an RF antenna input connection and then outputs HDMI or component / optical to the 5014.
