Working good
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed.Purchased a month ago and working well so far. Hoping it will last a couple of years at least to recoup my costs versus paying the rental to the cable company. Smaller and lighter than the one from the cable company but has the same amount of ports and wireless capability. You have to call the cable company to have the modem initialized and in my case they were very cooperative.

worked like a breeze
||Posted .Packing was superb. Connected Motorola N450 and straight away got ONLINE! without any issues whatsoever. No more going into the IP/network settings, no more compatibility issue. No more over-heating. No more 10$ extra per month to the providers. A long-term solution. a sturdy product.Go for it!

Excellent Modem/Router
||Posted .So, I had a debacle with this modem/router that had absolutely nothing to do with the product itself, which I'll detail below. The product itself is amazing, works like a charm for it's purpose--two CPUs hooked up via Ethernet cable get 200+Mbps. WiFi is consistent, but we have Comcast, so how consistent could it possibly be, anyway. However--speaking of Comcast--be very aware that if you call them to have an agent set it up for your internet service (it's a Comcast certified modem/router)--they may turn you down and tell you that it's not available for use per the model number, or that it's not actually certified at all--that's what I was told the first time I called. I had to call twice to get an agent who knew what they were doing and who took care of it for me, it's all set up under Comcast and we're looking to return our provided Modem with no issues, continuing to use this one. So just know if you have Comcast, be prepared to deal with the potential issues that may come with that, but otherwise, it works great. 5/5 anyway, because it details specifically how to hook up this router/modem onto specific cable services in the manual and everything. It's a great router, just an absolutely terrible cable/internet company.

My WiFi Router
||Posted .After years of paying the cable company for a WiFi Router I found an opportune time to reduce my cable bill. Living in a rural area with very limited over air TV options. I was in a position to sign on to a cable option with no 2 year commitment that included internet. The Motorola - N450 was one of the options I considered for a WiFi Router. I chose this because of the Motorola name and it resembled the units I had from the cable company as well as being a more updated model. After purchasing the unit I carried it into the local cable company office and they registered the equipment for my account. Went home plugged it in and was up and running in a short time. One month no problems, and I will break even in about 7 or 8 months versus paying the cable company.

Q: QuestionI called Xfinity today (05/27/19) to ask if this modem is compatible with Xfinity and was told that it is not compatible with Xfinity. So now I'm confused...is it or is it not compatible?
Asked by CarolC.
- A:Answer This product is compatible with Xfinity internet and HD cable services. It says it right on the box and I have been having great success with the lower tier internet products and HD channels. It may not be compatible with the top line speeds or Xfinity voice products

Q: QuestionIs there a wireless router built into this, or do I need to buy a separate router to set up a wifi network?
Asked by Wendy.
- A:Answer Yes. You do not need to purchase anything else. Just connect your cable to the device and begin setup. You will need to register it with your carrier so they can help you with specific information regarding setup. It's really easy to set up and works well. It's a good purchase.

Q: QuestionWill this work with Comcast Xfinity with VOIP telephony?
Asked by Curious.
- A:Answer One must be careful and retain a healthy dose of scepticism when it comes to answers posted online. I was gullible and wanted to believe the answers posted here, but I decided to double check and went into a store to look at the box itself, and worst case, there might be someone on site who could answer my questions in person! What I have found out is there are at least 2 variety of this line of "modem" from Motorola, one of which DOES in fact support telephony, but has no wi-fi capabilities. So you would need to add your own wi-fi router. This version of the modem has two RJ-11 (for regular telephone jack connectors) ports in addition to the four RJ-45 (for Ethernet cables) connectors. The picture of the back of the advertised "N450 N Router With 8 X 4 DOCSIS 3.0 Cable Modem" shows that it has only the four RJ-45 ports, and no RJ-11 ports, therefore, it definitely DOES NOT support telephony. There are indeed two modem/router combo at the store that supports both telephony and wi-fi, one is an ARRIS brand, and the other is NETGEAR. I strongly advise anyone who is planning to purchase this modem to visit the store, and at least speak to one of the sales representative before making the purchase.

Q: QuestionCan I have a land line phone hookup on this modem like I have on the xfinity box
Asked by George.
- A:Answer No. There are only Ethernet ports available and solely used for internet access. This will also not work if you have static IP address.
