Has it's flaws
||Posted . Owned for 7 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After a few months the "chrome" finish started flaking off, we started getting little bits of silver in our coffee. Next the end broke off the plastic pole that stops the lid from going all the way back. It was then the hinge breaking to the point where you have to lift the lid off completely, that finally made me stop using the coffee maker. And I do agree with what someone else said, the buttons do become sticky and hard to push. Pros of this coffee maker: a 4 hour shut off instead of a 2 hour shut off. being able to put in the dishwasher. I cannot say I would recommend this to a friend, but for myself, I do like the pros of this coffee maker and will be replacing mine with another.

OK Maker for the Price
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When I was a child, having a Mr. Coffee coffeemaker was a status symbol. You didn’t even have to read the name on the maker to know it was a Mr. Coffee. It had a distinctive style, from the carafe with its plastic white lid, to the maker itself. Now, Mr. Coffee looks like any other generic coffee make. At a distance, I couldn’t tell the difference between one or another. However… This unit has an unusual (and, in my opinion, a long overdue) ability to be taken apart and washed! In the dishwasher! I don’t know about you, but I’m not great at cleaning out the makers. I hate the smell of descaling using vinegar (warm vinegar – ew!). I forget to buy the special solution. I don’t keep track of brew cycles, and if the maker alerts me to the fact it needs descaling, it’s usually in the morning when I don’t have time to deal with it. So, with that in mind, I was excited to review this unit. It’s not quite as I had hoped, though. Yes, the water reservoir comes off, but the lid to it does not (at least, I couldn’t get it off). This means you would have to wash the reservoir in the bottom rack. This took up a good quarter of my dishwasher rack. At the end of the day, our family fills the dishwasher up to the brim, so unless I do an extra load that day, I don’t see me washing this often. (BTW, the instructions still advise to descale the unit.) The other parts are top rack washable. It comes with a water filtration insert, which appears to use the same inserts as the Keurigs, so if you are like me and have both, you’re good to go with buying one refill box for both. It also comes with a reusable permanent filter and a removable filter basket. You could use a paper filter as well, but no filters were included. I washed all the parts before the first use. I still had to run a cleansing cycle through the unit, though, because the bottom portion of the maker was NOT washable. The first brew seemed to take a long time to complete. I had meant to set a timer to see how long the brew was. I would highly recommend using the “Brew Later” for your morning coffee, otherwise you might not have time to drink it. The unit beeped halfway through the process (it’s not supposed to beep until it is done). The water stopped at 8 when I had put a full 12 cups of water in the reservoir. The flavor was unremarkable and a bit on the weak side. I used the same amount as I would have used in my Breville maker, so I may need to adjust the amounts for the Mr. Coffee. I tried two more brews, both with a paper filter vs. the permanent one. The last brew was more representative of function. It took 10 minutes to brew and had no issues. I’m not sure what happened with tests 1 and 2. The flavor was still on the weak side, so if you like stronger coffee, you’ll need to adjust your amounts. I’m going to rate the Mr. Coffee just average. It is a good maker for the price, but I was unimpressed.

A very clever design, and a well made machine!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you are like me, you remember the face of Mr. Coffee was Joe Dimaggio. To this day, I not only think of this but also know that the Mr. Coffee brand represents a well made and unique coffee maker. I have or have had Mr. Coffee coffee pots, iced tea makers, and related accessories. All functioned well beyond what I had hoped was their life expectancy. This machine offers a solution to a problem that has bothered me for years about these kind of machines. The water fills in a tank. The tank heats and pumps water through the filter and coffee, down to the pot as a drip/flow until the pot is full. But in that tank can lurk germs/bacteria because it isn't getting clean, is dark and damp, and no way to clean it other thank vinegar which I don't think kills bacteria. This machine gives you the chance to clean the tank, pot, filter basket, etc. in the dishwasher. Or you can hand wish, it is very easy to clean. Restores my faith in drip coffee makers. I've been using a K-Cup machine for this very reason, but let's be honest, I really miss having fresh brewed coffee. This coffee maker has a clock, timer, auto-off after 4 hours, and up to 12 cups of coffee per brew. The cord manually can squeeze back into the hole in the back for neat storage. Comes with a reusable filter, and a water filter. Totally worth it, glad I got the chance to experience this and will be using this for years to come I'm sure!

Nice, inexpensive, and easy to clean
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When we moved a few months back our fancy coffee maker with all the bells and whistles didn’t survive the trip so I had been using my trusty Bunn single serve maker since. We needed something fairly basic, simple and multi serve for when we have company. Mr Coffee recently came out with this one and decided to give it a shot. Unpacking and Setting up: The coffee maker was very well packed, like most, and was completely assembled. All we had to do was take it out, unwrap it and remove a couple foam inserts holding the carafe, that’s it. The power cord is stored inside the body so just had to pull that out. The first thing I noticed is the instructions, “box also advertises this”, that most everything is dishwasher safe, and proceeded to take down the device so it could be washed in the dishwasher as recommended by the manual. I really like how far this breaks down; even the water reservoir comes off. So we took off the top lid, the water reservoir, baskets, and carafe and put them in the dishwasher. Only the bottom unit where the pump, warming tray and electronics stay behind, not much left. I did notice a plastic sort of smell to it but after running through the dishwasher it was gone. I also ran a few cups of water through it before actually putting it to use. Use: We really only need this when we have company and it’s going to fit our purposes perfectly. One of the coffees I like to brew is Trung Nguyen Vietnamese coffee “try it if you haven’t yet”. The only problem is it’s ground extremely fine and puts a lot of pressure on the single serve reusable pod in my Bunn, really made for using a pour over Vietnamese filter. I wanted to try this out and noticed the included permanent basked with this new Mr Coffee was a super fine plastic mesh, I mean really fine, and held the fine grind of the TN coffee. I didn’t use a full batch but ran a 8 cup run which is about perfect for this coffee. It’s so fine it blocks the filter so it comes out pretty slow and 8 cups was just right to where the water didn’t run over the basket. After a 8 minute run “around 1min per cup” the coffee was done and it came out better than using the Bunn by a long shot. Conclusion: We really like this new Mr Coffee maker, it’s not very expensive, has a timer function that works perfectly. It’s very simple to use and cleanup is so easy since you can put most of it in your dish washer “top rack”. The only thing you have to manually clean is the warming tray and that’s very easy. The basket in the top is very easy to remove and fill, the spray arm swing completely out of the way for removal, and there’s a little plastic piece in the lid that swings the arm back into place so you don’t even have to remember to do that before running. We didn’t used the included carbon filter as we have a RO filter system and use only that kind of water. It’s nice to see that it’s there though if we take this with us and have to use regular tap water. In short, if you are looking for a simple basic coffee maker, that has a timer function and don’t want to spend an arm and a leg for one, then take a serious look at this new Mr. Coffee machine.

Coffee maker disassembles to wash in dishwasher
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've owned several Mr Coffee coffee makers over the years, as well as other brands. One of the things I've never liked is how difficult it is to clean them. This Mr Coffee is mostly dishwashable, since you can take it apart and put most of the pieces in the dishwasher for easy cleaning (just not the base with the electronics and cord). This coffee maker also has a programmable timer, a reusable mesh coffee filter and a water filter (it comes with one filter cartridge, you have to purchase any future cartridges needed). It comes with a glass carafe and the burner stays on for 4 hours by default, though you can turn it off manually. As with all coffee makers, it makes good coffee once you get used to how much coffee and water works for you, since they're all slightly different.

Nice coffee maker
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I like the lower profile this one has over my prev. coffee maker. Auto pause feature works well. the top opens to a large area to fill water, no more having to be so careful aiming when you fill. Directions do recommend you take disassemble and put into dishwasher to clean before use. I recommend this as well. BUT, don’t do as I did and forget to remove the water filter packet :-) This water filter packet is a great idea for those with water issues. I would think this will really extend the life of the machine and taste of the coffee. I barely fit one of the parts into the washer, I also don't recommend including the metal filter basket in the dishwasher process. Mine slightly warped. Buttons and LED screen are all easy to use and view. You have a Brew Now and Brew Later button. Overall a nice unit.

It makes Coffee!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Got this to use at my work in my office instead of having to suffer with the coffee used at work. It makes a good enough cup of coffee. I do like the simplicity of cleaning it. I don't have access to a dishwasher, but hand-washing it works just as well. I've not had any problems with the unit so far. I do wish there a bit more in the way of programming it for brewing at a later time, such as a schedule, but for a cheaper machine I can understand the lack of being able to do so. If you need something that's easy to setup, use and especially clean, this is a good unit.
