An amazing movie to have from one of the best actors of all time. James Stewart at his very best.

This is for the Blu-ray. Anyone familiar with "Mr. Smith" will have no use for another review. Anyone unfamiliar is in for a real treat. Any film by Frank Capra is worth watching, and "Mr. Smith", "Meet John Doe" and "Mr. Deeds Goes to Town" (NOT that terrible Adam Sandler re-make "Deeds"!) are among the best. "It Happened One Night" is still the masterpiece. The DVD put out by Columbia was good, but the Blu-ray is stunning. There is not always a good reason to upgrade an older movie to Blu-ray, but sometimes they do it right (just as sometimes the Blu-ray is worse). This one IS better. Whether to upgrade is always a judgment call, but if you do not own the movie yet...get the Blu-ray.

This film from 82 years ago is all too accurate when it comes to presenting sleazy political manipulation and power plays. True, the technology is dated; however, the movie has a strong message--- without trying to pound an ideology into you during every scene. Jimmy Stewart is at his finest as a man of integrity trying to fight all the corruption. I've not yet seen all the background documentaries and features included with this; but the Blu Ray is a fine rendition of the 1939 film. So pleased I bought this.
