Bad product - worse repair deptAugust 2, 2017
If there was a zero star rating I'd pick zero. Purchased as a graduation gift for my son to go off to college with this fall. Within days this unit randomly freezes for no reason needing a hard reboot each time. I've reinstalled the OS twice (2nd time straight from Microsoft) and updated ALL drivers - but still it randomly freezes. Geek Squad was no help as i was told MSI does not authorize the Geek squad to do any repairs on their hardware. Wished I had purchased a BB protection plan though. I'd rather deal with BB locally than MSI. Of the 5 prior laptops Ive owned (other name brands) MSI is the 1st and only one and most pricey that crapped out practically right out the box. Returned it as a in-warranty repair to MSI in CA (we're on the east coast) $50.00 at my expense and was promptly return to me in 2 days after receipt citing only a re-install of the OS was needed. RMA tech completely ignored me telling them the OS was already reset twice. Booted up 'repaired' unit and this thing locked up in an hour while installing updates from MS. Got a new RMA and returning it a 2nd time. Only time will tell. Thanks MSI for being a killjoy to what I thought would be a fun and exciting graduation gift.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend
