Overall, decent, but has its flaws

Overall, this is a decent lens for general purpose, all-around, walk-around lens. It does have its drawbacks, like being a slow lens (but this depends on use), and the distortion is noticeable, especially on a full-frame body. Not the sharpest either, but acceptable sharpness. Seems to be a little soft at the long telephoto end in terms of sharpness. Also vignetting is a problem too but can be fixed in Photoshop/post processing. I would still recommend this lens, despite its drawbacks, as it's a decent lens for general use. I wouldn't go using it as a portrait lens or anything, or for specific jobs where a fast lens or extreme sharpness/super fast AF is needed, but this fits the bill for most hobbyist (beginner/intermediate) shooters in my opinion. Lens feel sturdily built, but after a year of use, my focus ring has a little play in it (I use AF mainly, so the focus ring gets little use. Still works, just there is a little play in the focus ring).

I have a Nikon d800 and i was looking for a high quality mid-range zoom for travel. I considered the 24-70 f2.8, but the size, weight and limited range on that lens put me off. I went ahead and ordered the 24-120mm f4. I have no regrets. The colour, contrast, focussing speed, and sharpness of the 24-120 f4 are all very impressive.

The previous effort by Nikon on this lens was a dud. This lens is noticeably better in all respect. I really like the zoom range of 24-120mm and although f/4 is not as good in low light as f/2.8 24-70mm, it's still a ideal compromise of reach, usability and low light capability. 4 1/2 stars

I bought this after a thorough research of the lens in several online websites and I am NOT disappointed at all. The zoom range is very useful and is good for wide angle and mid-range telephoto. The only thing I don't like about this lens is its weight. If you are looking for light weight lens, this is not for you. I like the versatile range of zoom.

My wife doesn't know anything about photography but she knows this lens as my "people" lens. I use it for events and gatherings when I need a wider focal length than my 70-200mm f4 can provide. The autofocus and vibration reduction work very well. I can't point to any major faults, it just does everything well.

Got this along with my D750 included in the kit. This is a awesome lens you can carry around for pretty much most of the tasks. The constant f4.0 does an excellent job from wide to zoom in for any light situation.
