Super fun kids project
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was a little weary of a cardboard project, but this is well designed. Took me and my 8 year old grandson about 6-8 hours over a couple days to build it. He was able to do all the work. Great, easy to follow and fun instructions are on the Switch itself. We still have to assemble the “tools” that allow you to modify the experience on the TV. He really had a lot of fun.

Sweet surprise
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.When. My son first wanted this I was pretty much at a "I'm not paying that much for cardboard" well he saved his money and purchased it. From the build to the play it's been an absolute hoot. If you want your kid off the couch and he wants to play video games this is an excellent item. It is built well and sturdy, it exceeded my expectations on every level. In a few years if he grows tired of it and it ends up in the garbage it's nice to know it's completely biodegradable.

Great construction experience, less so after
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We purchased this for my 9 year old son for his birthday. He loves robots and science/technology, so it seemed like a great fit. He loved putting the contraption together and spent a whole day constructing the suit. It takes a lot of time, but for kids who love involved processes, it is really great. The experience afterwards dropped off a bit though. He played almost all of the available mini games in the time it took him to construct the set in the first place. The garage software is more of a sandbox, so without the guide to lead him, he was less interested in that. The straps on the robot backpack also tend to come loose from the box. Still recommended, just know that the primary value here is in the set construction.

This was born out of Japanese Culture.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I pre-order this package because of many things: 1. As a VR AR developer, I am frustrated with the poor controller design by HTC, Oculus, Daydream, and Gear VR. LABO is a breakthrough and an inspiration for specialty controllers. 2. Grow up with Anime and Japanese toys. Cardboard is a very important component in this experience. From the monthly children learning magazine's folding cardboard toys to the famous anime characters and robots made of cardboard, LABO is the next big thing to extend this cultural significance. However, I don't think Americans would appreciate cardboard as much as Japanese do other than packing materials. 3. Putting this together by yourself is long and painful. It is like experiencing one of those love of first sight romance with a quick burn out. The robot box is so many works. We only played for about 30 mins, I had not touched it for the past 3 weeks. I recommend starting with the other box set first.

Fun to Craft and Build
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It was fun building it - even though it took around 4 hours to craft. The instructions with the visuals were clear and concise - sometimes even providing creative and entertaining commentary on certain steps. The pistons are an interesting and well-thought idea for the game's way of sensing your movement. However when putting it on and playing the game, the scary thought of breaking it crosses one's mind. Not only that, but the things to do with the robot after a while seemed lackluster. However, overall, it was fun to build and a unique way to play video games.

Q: QuestionWhat age range of children is the Nintendo Labo Robot Kit - Nintendo Switch recommended for? Can a 7 or 8 year old use this without a good deal of adult guidance? or is this meant more for teens?
Asked by cheblue1.
- A:Answer 7 or 8 is probably the perfect age range. It will take adult help to initially assemble it, but after being shown how to use it, they should be fine.

Q: QuestionDo you have to use the Switch while building it? I'm wondering if one kid can be playing a different game on the Switch while the other one builds it. Or are the instructions digital? Thanks!
Asked by Jennifer.
- A:Answer The instructions are interactive and best used on the Switch as you get an interactive 3D view of the build as you follow it in real time. That said there are Youtube videos of others building theirs while following the instruction on the Switch game. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hZ1Ygg0TZ8E Still I don't know how much I would recommend not using the Switch to build it. Maybe they could help each other find the necessary sheets and parts or one moves rotates the instructions as the other builds, just an idea. Good luck.

Q: QuestionDoes this work with Switch Life?
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer You will need an extra pair of Joy-Con, which are sold seperately. The Switch Lite cannot charge Joy-Con either, so I highly reccommend also purchasing a Charging Grip.
