Great underrated flagship phone.

Quality5 out of 5Value3 out of 5Ease of Use4 out of 5So I needed a decent phone that has the flagship criteria and I didn't want Samsung or iPhone so I looked at this Nokia 9 PV. First of all, I wouldn't pay this phone at its retail $700. Best Buy had it on sale for $450 and that's when you wanna get it. After a few days of use, the phone itself is great, fast, easy to use and it just works. Now the goods: The pOLED screen is just simply gorgeous to see. It supports HDR so watching Netflix/Youtube contents that support HDR is awesome. The phone is easy to hold but it's easily slips away from your hand. Get a case or you're gonna drop it break it lol. The 6" screen is just right on point. Not too small or big. Just feels right. No stupid notch! (that's right Apple/Google/millions other manufacturers). Now the not-so-goods The flaws come in on its greatest features...the camera itself. It takes awesome photos when you use it right. The processing though...is something else. Since all 5 lens take a photo at the same time, it could take a few seconds to compile a single photo. My time was 12 seconds...more or less. Once the processing is done, the results is amazing. Hopefully Nokia fixes this with the next software updates. Another flaw is the fingerprint sensor. It could take a few tries to recognize my thumb and sometimes I just use the pattern key instead. Hopefully software update will fix this issue. No SD card slot and no 3.5 jack...yes this still matters to me but Nokia provides an USB C adapter for it. If you take pics in RAW that 128GB storage gonna fill up soon fyi. Would I recommend it? At $700 - NO. How about at $450 - YES. Also get an open box if you can find one. I got it for $350 and it's a steal.

OK hardware but disappointing software

Quality3 out of 5Value2 out of 5Ease of Use1 out of 5It's great until you go take low-light photo. I got this phone less than a month ago, and today I finally had a chance to take it on a test on low light condition. Baam, my sluggish camera now acting up with blank boxes in some of pictures. (raw format) Buy this phone for great display with hdr, but not for the camera..

It is a leading edge Smart phone
|Posted .Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed.Features
Quality5 out of 5Value4 out of 5Ease of Use5 out of 5It is light, fast, and setup was a breeze. Just enable NFC on both phones and let it go. Different from the piece of junk HTC U11 I had (poor support and no more product), it will take some time to get acclimated to how Android 10 does things, but it is pretty much the Android OS standard. I don't care how great or how bad the camera is. I didn't buy it for the camera, it is a phone. It will do all the things smartphones do, and it wasn't $800.00 or a Fruitco product. Display is good, responsive and the applications seem to be snappier than with my older phone. The case is slicker than a greased, wet pig, so I will definitely need a new case. Also, it is a full, rectangle display. I'm not a movie watcher, but I can see how folks hate the notch. It has been a long time since I owned Nokia, but it seems so far to be a quality "computer" phone. I say "computer" phone, because it is, with nearly all of the capability of my tower PC, and some things that my PC cannot do (most smarties are like that). For those interested, I have owned the phone for about a day and a half.

Huge disappointment: Partially cooked product
|Posted .Owned for 11 months when reviewed.Features
Quality2 out of 5Value2 out of 5Ease of Use3 out of 5I have owned this phone for 11 months now (bought it the first week it was launched in US i.e. March 2019). Seemed like I made a mistake from the very beginning. The fingerprint sensor has never worked properly so that feature is pretty much useless. Initially, the processing speed of raw images was terrible and it crashed the phone but they have fixed it now. Images still take forever to process but the phone almost never crashes. Even when the camera works, the images taken are inconsistant. You never know when the image will be oversaturated and overcompensated in terms of colors. When the auto focus feature is on, you cannot focus on things by tapping on the screen, it always focuses on stuff it wants to focus on while ignoring your tap. I was tolerating all of that as I was able to use third party camera apps which seem to work better (that means the software of the camera app is the problem) The quality of the images can in no way justify the penta camera setup. I have even compared the raw images of this phone with other phones which have this raw imaging feature, but don't see any advantage at all! The biggest problem came after 9 months of use. The rear camera continuously makes a weird chirping sound when turned on (the front camera is fine). the chirping is being recorded even while taking videos and can be heard during video calls (rear camera only). I have googled this problem but can't seem to find the solution. Nokia customer care is refusing to replace my phone with a new one and wants me to send the phone for repair but who knows how long they will take. I am looking for another phone for the time being. Pros: Great materials and screen resolution; feels and looks expensive. Getting 250 GB of memory at this price is amazing. The battery life is satisfactory. The android one software is clean and is great to use. Overall, this phone has been a dissapointment. I was extremely excited about the comeback of legendary Nokia but turns out it's just another chinese company pretending to be Nokia. It seems like they have put out a partially cooked phone in a hurry.

Not a better Nokia 1020
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendI had hopes that the camera would better than the 1020s, it is not. It is not even better than 950Xl. That said, I had to move as MS is abandoning mobile. Android is still a mess, even PIE, accept it. This is a nice unique looking phone. I immediately put mine in a case, so beautifully blue is covered. I find the screen pure and bright. The screen is a little sensitive, as I miss hit the keyboard often. I have no problems with the fingerprint reader. It works better than I expected. Face recognition works, but really, don't you feel stupid holding your phone in front of your face when you can punch in the pin faster. The 950XL had face recognition, also. The pin would be faster yet, if you did not have to press enter. So we are down to the camera. It is a good camera, compared to the mainline phones, I have looked at. But, for me, not better than my 950XL. I mostly shoot outside aviation photos, at distance and use the optical zoom and cropping to create the final zoom in my images. I need pixels. Five cameras with 12MP are still 12MP, just more data, not more resolution. I would shoot shots with the selfie, 20MP, but it has now focal range. I will close with this. The next question is would I recommend this to a friend, YES, if you are not happy with your current phone. It is fast enough, it had a great price $600, now $700, wait a while. If you are happy, wait for a better camera.

Not quite excellent but close.
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendThis is my first new phone in over 3 years and I looked for quite a while before settling on this one. The good features are: excellent display (crisp text and easy to read); Perfect size (for me) as it is a bit smaller than my previous phone (Nexus 6p); the camera takes terrific photos that meet my requirements (ease of use, point & click); no bloatware (only the Nokia My Phone besides the standard Google apps); guaranteed updates and HMD is meeting that commitment; battery life for me has been very good but I am a light user compared to many; voice quality and reliability has been excellent on T-Mobile. For the not so good the fingerprint reader is very problematic. HMD has already said they are working on a fix for it. The Face Unlock works pretty well indoors but not as well outside. I generally just stick to a PIN code for now. Otherwise I am very pleased with this phone having had it for less than 2 weeks.

Good photos camera sometimes freezes

Quality4 out of 5Value5 out of 5Ease of Use5 out of 5When I got this phone I knew photo processing take its time and I was fine with it. I have been using this phone for about a year and love it. The only thing that makes me upset is that the camera sometimes freezes when has to focus in detailed frames and it is getting worse over time. I'm wondering if has to do with memory or something

Nice camera, nice phone but fingerprint sensor not
|Posted .Owned for 1 week when reviewed.Features
Quality4 out of 5Value5 out of 5Ease of Use5 out of 5I purchased this as an upgrade to the Nokia 7.2. I love the performance of this phone and how light it it is. I had read reviews about concerns with the fingerprint sensor. I wish the fingerprint sensor were better. Sometimes it doesn't register my fingerprint. I love the phone and would purchase another phone from Nokia in the future. This is my second Nokia phone and I love the Android one experience with monthly updates and the fact that there's no pre installed bloatware on the phone.
