Best under-$100 speakers currently available
Posted .By 'best', I mean the most refined, balanced, and smooth sounding boxes. They MUST be crossed-over high (or set as 'small' in your receiver), as they lack the ability to dig much below 80Hz. With a decent sub, these would sound perfect in a small 2.1 home theater system. WAY better than any sound bar. They play decently loud.....the tweeters have good horizontal dispersion...the midwoofer's dispersion is about par for the class...though sound quality is above average for the category. I only wish the metal grills were removable. Somebody clearly gave some forethought to the internal crossover, as the sound is pretty refined...though these are not very efficient for 6-ohm speakers. That and the power handling is about average for a sub-$100 speaker...which is to say it ain't gonna rip your face off in a big room. BUT, for $100, they gotta make cuts somewhere. Overall, it's an outstanding value.

Pioneer bookshelf
Posted .Im an experienced user and I had to write a review of these speakers. I bought a set for general use and am floored by the overall sound quality. Way better build quality and sound quality that I ever expected. They are being driven by $5000 of preamp and amp. For a less than $100 pair of speakers Id say grab a set. Best bang for the buck I have seen in quite a while. bob

it's all true
Posted .The reviews are true. This is a remarkable product at a remarkable price. These replace my umpteenth pair of speakers, Klipsch RB5s in this case, and the smoothness of the little Pioneers make me realize how occasionally honky the Klipsch are. One thing that can't be stressed enough is how impressive the bass of the Pioneers is. Not heavy bass, of course, but *quality* bass. They also mate well with a sub for movie watching and so forth. So far, it's hard to get used to all the sound that's coming from such tiny speakers!

Are these for real ?
Posted .Wow....these bookshelf speakers are awesome. I compared them in store side by side with the 'other' $99 speakers, which sounded like mid-range-laden muffle boxes. These Pioneers kick butt. Unbeleivable clarity with no ear fatigue. Kudos to Andrew Jones as he apparently really knows his stuff.

Delightfully Surprised!
Posted .When these speakers went on sale, I grabbed a pair with fairly low expectations to use with my Kenwood stereo receiver. In the store, they don't impress against the others because the power is a bit weak, but once in my living room, they really hold their own! The treble is crisp and clear, and the bass is quite adequate. Granted, they aren't as good as my old (huge) Kenwood floor speakers, but they fit nicely on my entertainment center, and the rounded shape allows me to position them easily. They have a bit of a retro look with the metal grills. As the others have said, you can't beat these speakers for this price range. I am very pleased!

In a word...WOW!!!!!
Posted .Talk about being blown away. I was little skeptical in purchasing these without hearing them first, but I figured with all the glowing reviews, and the price, hey...no harm no foul. Well, needless to say, they go WAY BEYOND my expectations. They are used as a bedroom system, two channel only. Let me tell you, for music alone, the sound is gorgeous. Wonderful soundstage, beautiful seperation, and most important, INVOLVING. Get 'em. Win win.

great looking
Posted .These speakers are great. They are way bigger than a regular home theater set. You get more power and they look nice throughout your living room or theater room.
