QuestionI purchased an Acer Monitor, Model S271HL recently. I cannot adjust the volume on from the control button. I can hear through headphones, but not without headphones. Are there speakers on this model? Datasheet indicates there are 2 speakers.

- Answer There are indeed 2 onboard speakers on this model. I am having issues with my speakers now as well, very similar to your issues. The on board speakers used to work perfectly fine a few years ago, now they don't. I have tried all the basics to get them functioning and nothing yet.

QuestionhhI have an Acer S271HL and when I try to upgrade to the new Windows 10 it tells me my display is not compatible with windows 10 and to contact the manufacturer. I have tried on the Acer website to get an answer and cannot get through. That's why I want to know for sure if this one will actually be compatible with Windows 10?

- Answer I am running Windows 10 with this monitor. You may have to adjust the resolution settings, but it should work.

Question"Can this monitor be used vertically?" was answered by 3 people and they said no. But in the Product Features, "View from more angles" stated "The 178° horizontal and vertical viewing angles.". If i turn the monitor 90° will be seen virtically?

- Answer Vertical orientation would only work if your graphics card rotates images and you are using a mounting bracket. The included stand only attaches for horizontal viewing. And viewing angles refer to your angle (side to side & above) from the monitor. Think sharing your screen with an audience.

QuestionMovie qualityHello - I was watching a movie on this monitor...It was in 1080 and I was totally unhappy with the amount of squares I could see in the dark areas of the picture. In other words, when there were supposed to be dark areas in the movie, I could see squares of color, not pure black. I tried messing with the contrast/brightness but still this happened. I paused the exact scene on my old iMac and the black was pure and the picture looked much nicer/deeper. Any ideas? Is this just the LCD technology?

- Answer If you are running it with HDMI connection, switch to DVI. It sounds crazy but it makes a world of difference in the image quality. I had the same issues you had til I made the swtich.

Questionfor photographsI'm looking for a really good 27" monitor that would be good for touching up old photographs scanned from slides for under $300. My eyes aren't so good anymore and I'm just learning how to do the touch ups, so I need a monitor that has the best color possible out of the box (since I don't know how to calibrate it). Would this be a good monitor for that?

- Answer Acer - 27" LED HD Monitor, good quality picture for the money. I got one on sale at Best Buy for $199. Full HD, LED Monitor, Model: S271HL. The 27" LG Model: 27MP33 is also good but is more money, about $249 also at Best Buy.

- Answer Yes, it tilts back only (not forward). No swivel or height adjustment.
