A:AnswerI think I saw somewhere that memory is soldered. Not sure how truthful that is. If not you probably can upgrade it to a 16 GB module as I think there is just one memory slot. Please ask Acer technical support for an accurate answer this is based on my research.
A:AnswerI can't necessarily say it is the best on the market but I bought an LG Ultra Slim Portable DVD writer (Model #SP80NB60) from Best Buy. The box says it is an "LG -8X EXTERNAL DOUBLE LAYER DVD RW/CD" It runs off a USB 2.0 port and is compatible with USB 3.0. Box also says that CD's run at 24X and that it will work on all Windows OS from XP (SP3) through W-10 as well as Mac OS X (10.7.5) There is CyberLink Media Software included in the box but I chose not to install it. I've just used my LG Portable DVD Writer to load older programs I have on DVD's. It works for me!
A:AnswerYes, as long as your external HD has a USB cable. This laptop also supports SS USB for faster data transfer (as long as your external HD also supports it)
A:AnswerI have had previous Acer products and the Acer support is non-existent. Terrible. However, I have come to expect this from most tech companies. I do have two of these laptops and they are great, but they do have a known issue with the display driver popping up a notificication that the display driver stopped responding and recovered. It is relatively minor, but annoying. I use a separate monitor so I don't even notice when the issue pops up on the laptop screen. Overall, I really like the performance of the laptop, but I don't ever plan to call their tech support.
A:AnswerI have two of these laptops and I don't have any problems with dim screens on either of them. I don't know if they automatically adjust to the ambient lighting, but I've never had any problems with lighting. I use mine primarily for basic graphic design.
A:Answerwhy bother. 8 GBs is enough 4 a laptop. Check your startup programs. Either somthing is wrong ( virus , slow internet speeds etc )
Also browse clean. Remove all anti-virus other than windows defender. Your anti-virus app & firewall may be colliding with Windows Defender which is all the anti-virus I need.
