  • QuestionIs there any sound coming from these I have damaged hearing I was told the sound came from vibration is that correct

    Asked by Orla.

    • Answer I have hearing loss and I use hearing aids. That rules out ear buds. These use bone conduction. I can leave my aids in if I choose. I can use them without my aids and still get great fidelity. I am extremely satisfied with them.

  • Questionone reviewer liked the previous model better. what is the name of the previous model? or is it the same name but a newer version?

    Asked by KARE.

    • Answer Trying to decide myself. Each version is lighter than the prior version. The Aeropex is the newest. 2nd newest are the Airs, before that was the Titanium—just look at the prices. Trade offs seem to be significant improvement in sound and battery life from Titanium to Air, update to Bluetooth 5.x, slight sound improvement and switch to magnetic charging in Aeropex. Eliminating the charging port makes the Aeropex more water and dust proof, and the chargers cost more to provide (you get two chargers with Aeropex but can’t use any other charging cable). From looking at a lot of reviews, it seems like different people fit the Air or Aeropex slightly better, but overall, most people do find each version better than the prior one. The price differences are pretty big right now, so it’s hard to know if the incremental improvements are worth the price difference.

  • QuestionWhat makes these stand out as a quality listening device

    Asked by Jenn.

    • Answer The sound in these is /really good/ for bone conduction headsets. Midrange to highrange is very clear, and just pops, voice is perfectly clear, and the volume is quite decent. The downside is that bone conduction headsets are not great for bass. I estimate the sound cuts out at about 40Hz, compared to 20 Hz for normal headphones (and 5 Hz for good ones). The 'speakers' may be able to do lower frequencies, but then it has to go through your tissue, which tends to muffle sounds. You will get better sound quality on good normal headphones. On the upside, since they don't cover your ears you can still hear everything. This makes them a godsend for when you're biking, running, or walking, because you won't be one of those completely oblivious dopes who can't hear anything around you. Plus, headphones or earbuds can get kind of sore or sweaty after a while (especially while doing active stuff), but these just sit in front of your ears and I can wear them for hours without getting tired of them. I turn up the bass boost a bit, which helps, and accept a little less bass for the freedom.

  • QuestionCan the batteries be replaced when their durability decreases? If so, what type (part number) is required?

    Asked by PaulH.

    • Answer Good luck getting Aftershokz or Shokz to honour a warranty claim!! My Aeropex headset died after 6months, and whilst initially they were I interested whilst gathering information, as soon as I’d jumped through all the hoops and provided all the correct information, they then stopped responding..all my emails were very polite..there is a reason they offer no telephone number..hmm steer clear..Fortunately I’m getting a refund from Amazon..shame as I loved the headset

  • QuestionDo these fit comfortably if the listener is always wearing eyeglasses ?

    Asked by ModelRRJIm.

    • Answer Well, I went ahead and purchased the AfterShokz - Aeropex Wireless Headphones before my original question was answered! Now I can answer it myself! They fit fine with my always on eyeglasses. I am very glad I got the unique headphones. It is indeed great to have 100% environmental awareness. I have a very big head, literally, & possibly figuratively :) and they seem to expand nicely. I anticipate comfortably wearing them for quite a while! The headphones paired immediately with my phone & scanner (with Bluetooth transmitter), and when tested with phone calls quality was excellent, They are definitely a winner!

  • QuestionHow well do these work on an airplane?

    Asked by Traveler.

    • Answer Hey there! Aeropex can work great on an airplane; however, due to the open-ear design you'll still be able to hear the ambient noise around you, which is why we include a pair of earplugs so that you can use your AfterShokz headphones with the earplugs for a more enhanced listening experience.

  • QuestionDo these have noise canceling for this price?

    Asked by Cash.

    • Answer No these do not offer noise cancelling. These are headphones meant to produce sound through bone rather than air, and do not even cover your ear. It is impossible for this product to properly cancel noises traveling in the air around us, and also that would go against the niche this product is trying to fill. The purpose of these headphones is to allow for you to listen to music/podcasts without removing yourself from the world around you. In particular being popular amongst cyclists/runners/construction workers who want to hear traffic/have conversations while listening to something during their exercise. People choose these headphones in order to avoid how all other earbuds/headphones block out noise while using them. Do not buy these if you want to cancel out noises, as these headphones are made to do the exact opposite.

  • QuestionCan people around you also hear the music since these sit on the outside of the ear?

    Asked by Mike.

    • Answer That would depend on how loud you have the volume turned up. I would say it is a little quieter than earbuds, but that is just my personal experience when I have let my family use my Aeropex.

  • QuestionHow do they fit or different sizes? Do they adjust to fit better?

    Asked by tracanne.

    • Answer I size fits all. I have a Fat head. 7 7/8 hat size. My wife has a small petite head and they fit fine. We use they with bicycling helmets and with over the ear noise protectors, and they work and fit fine. The only problem is lying back in the recliner, or bed the areopex end up pushing forward.

  • QuestionI swim for 1.5 hrs. Will these hold up in the water?

    Asked by Emc737.

    • Answer I haven’t bought these yet, but my understanding is that being submerged in water would block the Bluetooth signal from the phone. Aftershockz has another model that lets you load MP3s to the headset for music without bluetooth. You probably need that one.

  • QuestionWill two of these pair together to allow conversation between two individuals in close proximity to each other?

    Asked by Tim.

    • Answer Hey Tim! No, unfortunately our headphones do not work like walkie talkies. Although Aeropex can connect to up to two Bluetooth devices at one time, it is not capable of communicating exclusively between the two devices.

  • QuestionAre these amplified?
