  • Questiondoes this Amana 5.1 cu ft freestanding gas range come in Biscuit or Almond Color? Also is it a self-cleaning oven?

    Asked by Suz.

    • Answer When I was deciding on a gas range for my rental last month, the only colors I recall seeing for this particular oven were solid black, and stainless steel and black. Good luck finding one in one of those colors! That color was popular about 25 years ago, and was the color oven we got rid of with this one. I don’t recall if it was self cleaning, but doubt my tenant would use that feature if it had it.

  • QuestionI bought a gas range with a broiler option. It has no rack, broiler pan, anything, how do I use this....no insulation in the back, do I just set the dish on the bottom of the range?

    Asked by Lizzy.

    • Answer If it’s a new oven, the broiler pan should be in the bottom drawer. If it’s new and didn’t come with it, call the company and see if they’ll send you one. Otherwise, you might find one at a secondhand store. If you set a glass dish in the broiler area, I would think the dish would break; broiler setting is a high temperature. Without a broiler pan, try using an iron skillet. You mentioned the oven has no insulation in the back; I would have a professional look at it before using it! Without insulation, the back wall may become too hot while the oven is on. Good luck!
