- Answer Thank you for your interest in our products. The BX1000M-LM60 is UL 1778 approved. It has a zero clamping response time. It also has a 5% of IEEE surge let-through rating.

- Answer Thank you for your interest in our products. It really depends on if the desktop PC has a power factor corrected power supply in it. If it does you would just need to size the UPS correctly. - Answer Thank you for your interest our products. The UPS may not come fully charged so we do recommend charging the UPS over night before using it. The typical recharge time for the UPS is 12 hours.

- Answer It depends on the particular modem and how much power it draws. A similar question was answered in the past here: https://www.bestbuy.com/site/questions/apc-back-ups-pro-1000va-battery-back-up-system-black/6070800/question/35c5884e-a261-397f-815d-8f8150e0d5d2 and they say if the modem draws 24 watts the battery should last more than two hours.

- Answer Not for very long. Maybe through the startup cycle. During power outages I use a dewalt power inverter with 4 60 volt flex volt batteries- lasts about 2 hours. Then I get my generator going.

QuestionI see the unit has a simulated sine wave on battery power. Is that a square wave, or a sine wave? Our dog wigs out from the high frequency bands from our current UPS square wave output. I’m looking for a unit that won’t make drive him crazy.

- Answer Thank you for your interest in our products. The BX1000M-LM60 would be a pure sine wave while online but while the UPS is on battery it would be a step approximated wave which is a square wave. If you need it to be a pure sine wave both on and off battery you could check out our BR1000MS.

QuestionI bought this unit but the battery was not simple to install. I flipped and turned the battery 180 degrees but the battery would not engage thus I had a beep every 2 seconds with the battery symbol blinking. It shouldn't be this difficult!!

- Answer I've not experienced much trouble getting a new UPS going. It arrives with the battery disconnected on the positive terminal - to keep from discharging the battery while in storage. I agree it's not real easy to get the positive terminal on the battery, but it really needs to be a really solid connection, so it really should be not so easy. If it was easy to connect, it would also be easy to corrode and come loose. It's the same deal when changing batteries - it's a bit difficult to get the terminals off the old battery and onto the new battery. But I've never had any problems with the battery terminals - they done' corrode and they don't come loose - so I'm OK with them being a little difficult.

- Answer Hi Lee, Wow. I'm not sure about that. It will run a 27inch iMac while I'm working on the machine (so screen on and processors doing work) for about 70 to 80 min. However, if you're talking about just the modem and router for your internet, and maybe a small VOIP device, I would think much longer than that!! On APC's website, you can actually select the model of Back-Up unit you are interested in and then put in the information for how much power, the devices you are going to connect, draw and the website will calculate the "run time" for you. Hope that helps.

QuestionIs the max load for ALL 8 outlets of the bx1000m 600w? or is the 600w just the battery's max load? i.e. can I run my desktop and monitor (approx. 480W) on the battery while having peripherals (approx. 240W) plugged into the surge protection-only outlets?

- Answer It is 1000 watt hours or 1Kwh. The power draw is limited by the circuit breaker, which I think is 15amps, so should be able to do 12 amps steady until the battery is too weak. 12 amps at 120vac is 1,440 watts. You might last 1:25 hours at 720 watts draw. The idea is you are working, and don't want to lose what you are working on, on this computer. When the power goes out, it keeps you up for enough time to save your work before you lose power completely, or finish something that you worked on for 4 hours and are about to have to start over....

- Answer This is what I consider the minimum for a desktop. I have 10 of these in my office and they are performing very well. My IT department bought the smaller 600VA and they failed within 12 months.
