• A:Answer You can use any monitor, but to get the benefit of the resolution the Mac can support, a 4K monitor is razor sharp. I got the MSI 4K at Best Buy, about $190. Yes you can use any keyboard and mouse. If they are older USB models you may need some cheap adapters. You can buy a Mini with 1TB, but it much cheaper to buy an external. I'm using a 1TB Crucial. Got everything I needed at Best Buy!

Q: QuestionI have an old 27" Mac from 2012. Its still running. Can I use that as a monitor for the new mini with the M4 chip. Seem to be a waste to throw away the old 27". Can I use it for any other apple computer if the new mini is not compatible?

Q: QuestionCan I stream Netflix and Paramount on this Mac Mini? The reason I ask is because I have purchased previous versions of the Mac mini and it has not aloud me to stream them. Thank you.

• A:Answer Jay; I stopped by the Best Buy store in Garland (Tx) on Wednesday afternoon (Nov 27, 2024) and was looking at the new Apple M4 mini they had on-display. I had 'The Maltese Falcon' (classic black-and-white movie) playing on the M4 mini (streaming off Tubi TV using the Safari Web Browser) and it looked great on the Apple monitor. I suspect that the problem you're having involves High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection ('HDCP'). See Apple's comments at : https://support.apple.com/en-us/108928 The new M4 mini, running macOS 15.1 ('Sequoia'), will be capable of streaming HDCP protected video but it will need to be connected to a monitor that is HDCP compliant. - Paul

• A:Answer Not sure how BestBuy does it, but I moved from an iMac to the Mac mini. I used an external USB harddrive to do a backup using the Time Machine on the iMac. When I got the mini, I connected the USB drive and told the mini to perform the transfer from the Time Machine backup. The OS did all the work.

• A:Answer You will need to provide your own keyboard and pointing device (mouse or trackpad, typically). If they are bluetooth, they will work without additional cabling. If they are USB and not bluetooth, you will quite possibly need to provide a USB-C to USB-A adapter as many USB pointing devices are still being sold with USB-A connectors (wired) or receivers (wireless) only.
