It’s automatic when you sign in. You don’t need to do anything, they’ll just be there.

When you activate the new Apple TV, you will likely use the same iTunes account so your content will still be available (as long as they are in the cloud) and should transfer pretty easily. Apple walks you through the steps at set up. As a brand new user, I had no problems at all. I had several movies/ shows I had purchased years ago that I was not expecting to see, and they were there.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Actually, every movie that you own in Itunes exists either on your computer or the Apple Cloud. So all you have to do is sign in to your Itunes Apple ID and everything will populate on the new device just as in the old device.
