A:AnswerNo, you do not. I have smart TVs running webOS which is amazing and nearly as good as most of the streaming boxes such as AppleTV. if those are the only services you use, I would skip the streaming box. However, if you want to purchase/rent movies from iTunes you would need an Apple TV. The Apple TV offers more apps than the TV does giving you more possibilities. If you are not interested in those, I'd skip it. Same as the others like Amazon Fire TV or Roku.
A:AnswerBy regular TV, if you mean local network channels and other channels you would get through cable then yes. Apple TV is just a streaming device so you need an account with a cable provider that allows you to stream content both live and on demand. FIOS, Comcast, Hulu Live, Youtube TV and any other streaming service provide this. When setting up the Apple TV you just put in your account credentials to stream the content from these providers.
A:AnswerYes, I have used mine with a 4K TV for the last 20 months, it will only send a 1080p signal to the 4K TV though so you are not taking advantage of the TV's full capability.
A:Answer4K works on most hdmi cables. The step up is if you are trying to get the HDR picture if the tv is capable. Then yes you need a higher grade of hdmi and your tv may need you to plug the hdmi into a certain hdmi 2 or hdmi 3 slots. Sony.
A:AnswerI hope this will help but if it is like the past they were only given a certain amount to be allowed to do pre orders on. Which I know they did have pre orders for it since I was able to get it. The next time will probley not be until apple is able to get a handle on their pre orders so most likely not until the end or October to the middle of November and that is just my guess.
A:AnswerYes. I have the 4K model both 32 and 64 ... works on both. I use iTunes for all my music. It is all synched. I use Photos in full screen. It looks great. Use highest video settings for best results.
A:AnswerYes to all. for play lists, etc. you will have to use family sharing & shared playlists, etc. - streaming is via family sharing too. You can do all this with your phone via screen mirroring (on a smart TV) without the apple TV. Once you bring movies into the equation - the apple TV is needed.
A:AnswerThis is working on mine fine.
Make sure you are up to date. Settings->Software Updates-> Update Software.
Additionally, go to the App Store, select Hulu and verify that it is up to date (it will just say open, if it is already up to date)
General Usage:
Don’t use manage DVR Section, instead use TV Shows or Movies category to find your saved content.
Hulu seems to work a little differently than most Apple TV Apps. Mostly you can hold down the right side of the touch pad to go fast forward (you can do this in Hulu, but no thumbnails). However, if you want thumbnails, you first click pause, then swipe to the right for forward and swipe left for back. When you have found where you want to be, click, Play.
