- Answer These cannot be used outside, you can purchase the regular Arlo cameras, Arlo Pro, or Arlo Go for outdoor use.

QuestionIf I have Arlo set up in my main residence and now want to set up a system in my vacation home, can I use the same Arlo App used in my main residence or do I need a second App for the vacation home?

- Answer One app will do it all. Just go to grant access in the setup tab, click on the "add" and invite yourself using a different e-mail address. To make it work you need to click on the e-mail it send you and login to the other account. Then it will let you have access. When sharing cameras you need to click on each camera that you want to share (still under the grant access part of the setup. This way you can control which cameras you are letting "friends" view. I had to do it this way (2 email accounts) because I have greater than 5 cameras.

- Answer Yes you can. This is under Mode and Edit Rules. You can add multiple e-mail addresses to get alerts when alarmed (for example). If you have multiple devices using one app, then when one device logs into the app it will log the other device out (can't have both phones using the same app at the same time).

- Answer I have the LED lights disabled, with the only exception being that if they cannot reach the internet they will flash purple. I have not found a way to disable that.

- Answer The Arlo Q does not use batteries it has a low voltage adapter. The camera is wireless but the unit needs to be plugged in. Arlo cameras use 4 cr123a 3 volt batteries.

- Answer Yes, both the microphone and speaker can be turned on or off (separately). This is under Settings then Audio Settings. If you have been granted access to a camera you can't do it (you have to be the "owner" of that camera).

- Answer The arlo q can not be placed outdoor without enviromental damage. There is an Arlo for outdoor monitoring though.

QuestionI have a basic plan covering five cameras. If I buy Arlo Q or Arlo Q plus, I then will have six cameras. Will my basic plan covers Arlo Q or Arlo Q plus camera? I don't want to spend more money for another plan.

- Answer To keep it free, you have to set up a second account for the new cameras (anything over 5) and then set up sharing over to your other account that has the 5 cameras on it. Its not too big of a deal. This allows you to view all the cameras from one account. The biggest draw back is you cant put the shared cameras into your "Modes" . They will be in separate mode groups. So if you have a night mode or day mode or "Armed" or what ever... you will have to set two. One mode for the first 5 and then a separate mode for the additional group.

- Answer As long as you have the camera configured to the internet and your smart phone/table or computer has access to the internet on your end. You will of course have to be allowed access to the camera's internet (password) at that location and be allowed access to the camera's Arlo account.

QuestionCan I easily switch between recording qualities? What are the options?

- Answer It's easy to select the quality.............. However, although i select 1080P it continually goes back to 720P quality, it is not clear whether this is a network issue (limited upload bandwidth, we have 5mbit/sec upload speed for whole house) or whether it is a glitch.

QuestionIs it possible to get this to record to a network device instead of the cloud?I need to avoid using data because my internet is a hotspot. If I have an old phone, I want to know if I can record straight to that on loop on wifi instead of the cloud.

- Answer I don't think so. It wants to record to the cloud. If you put a thumb drive (USB memory stick) into the back of the base for the Arlo Pro it will record to both the cloud and to the USB device. This works great in case your internet goes down. It will record to the USB device. An idea would be to disconnect the Arlo Pro from the internet and see if it will work fine (record to the USB device). I haven't tried this but it should work. You won't be able to get alerts or monitor anything remotely but you will have the recordings.

- Answer Correct, it won't work without an active Internet connection for this model. You'll have to look into the Arlo Q Plus, which adds a MicroSD slot for those scenarios when your Internet is down and it needs to save the video.
