A:Answer Yes, this laptop has coil whine.
If you set it to the low performance silent mode in ASUS Armoury Crate, the noise is barley audible. You have to sick your ear near the top of the keyboard/bottom of the screen, left side, to even hear it. But, in windows, performance, or turbo modes, the coil whine is evident and increases with any touch pad or keyboard input. You really can't use it in a quiet room while in any of those modes, it gets irritating pretty quickly.
