For example, the providers of your cellular service, cable/satellite tv service, etc may have hotspots scattered around, especially in areas with a lot of stores, restaurants, etc. Some business "chains" (stores, restaurants, etc.) just need you to "sign in" once, for free & then anytime you are in one of their locations you access their Wi-Fi automatically. Of course, some routers or Wi-Fi's require a password, but your laptop, tablet, or phone can remember it for the next time you try to access it.
