- Answer This is the correct INK. You do get points.Don't use compatible ink.

QuestionWhat is the shelf life on unopened Canon CLI 42 inks? And how long do they last once installed on the printer regardless of useage) I use my printer very little so it could sit for weeks in between jobs.

- Answer I've left the cartridges set unopened on the shelf for over 1 year. I've had them installed in the printer for over a year...BUT... when the cartridges are in the printer I turn it on every 4-6 weeks, let it cycle, then turn it off. This helps keep the ink in the nozzles from drying and clears them. Yes it uses a bit of ink, but that's cheaper than head repair or replacement.

Questionhow does the amount of ink in each included cartridge compare with the cartridges bought individually?

- Answer New with printer 28g Refills 27g Based on what I've heard and info found online. Not much difference and NO, I don't know why unless Canon puts a touch extra in the new with printer carts to make up for the initial charge of the printer system.
