- Answer Yes through your wireless router using WPS connection. Once you establish the connection to your WiFi network it will show up on your iPad or any mobile device connecting to the same WiFi network

- Answer My guess would be "no" as it has no internal memory and cannot support a memory card. However--if there's a storage device (like a USB-memory stick) that uses a USB-B plug/port, then maybe you could do 'stand-alone' scanning. Now, if it were connected (wirelessly) to a LAN, perhaps it could scan to another device (which likely must be powered ON) but that seems outside your criteria of not requiring any other devices.
