  • QuestionWould this have enough power to power a small guitar amp? If so for how long?

    Asked by Musician.

    • Answer This inverter can power a small guitar amp, for how long though will depend on what size 12V power supply you are connected to. However for the best sound experience, it is recommended to use a pure sine wave inverter such as the Cobra Pure Sine 400W (CPI400PSW).

  • QuestionWill this hold a charge for inside the tent?

    Asked by Hmckn.

    • Answer It doesn't store any power. Must be hooked up to 12v supply. Like your car ouside the tent. Be carful you dont dra your car battery down.

  • QuestionWhen connected to car battery, will this inverter power a 400w heater?

    Asked by JAS.

    • Answer This power inverter will power up to 500W. If you plan to power only the 400W heater, it supports the power requirements for that device. If you have other devices to power or charge at the same time, be sure the devices are under 100W (add up the watts to all the devices you need to power at the same time) - or consider a larger watt inverter to support your power needs.

  • QuestionCan this work with solar panels ?

    Asked by Tamikad.

    • Answer It's not recommended to power the inverter from solar panels only. The inverter has a narrow input Voltage operating range requirement. The output Voltage from a solar panel can vary considerably which would not offer consistent inverter operation. Consider a solar panel + solar panel charge controller + Battery system instead and connect the inverter directly to the battery for best performance.

  • QuestionI miss camping and need portable power to run my CPAP while gone for 6 days how long will the power last between charges? Will it run my machine for 8 hours?

    Asked by Motorcyclecamper.

    • Answer How long your Cobra power inverter will operate your connected AC load is dependent on the following: Battery charge capacity, power rating of the connected AC load, and power inverter efficiency. Check your CPAP specifications for the maximum power consumption under typical operating conditions. Your power inverter peak efficiency is 90%. All that's left if the required battery charge capacity of the battery to keep your device running for 8 hours. There are many useful websites that can help to figure out the battery requirements. • QuestionI have a 5000 BTU window AC unit rated at 425 Watts. I'm not sure if that's continuous or peak watts. Can this be used to power the AC with my battery?

    Asked by Anonymous.

    • Answer While the AC unit input power rating is below the Cobra power inverter 500 Watt AC output specification, the real question is what's the AC unit's startup surge current specification? The power inverter is designed to tolerate an AC load surge that's quite high but only for a limited amount of time. If the AC load surge goes beyond that time limit then the inverter will protect itself producing a "fault" condition that results in disabling the AC output until the fault is cleared. Without getting too complicated, just try it if you already have the inverter / battery / AC unit. The AC unit and inverter combination will either operate correctly or the inverter will fault. Bear in mind the following: Keep the battery DC cables short and use the correct wire size or go over size to reduce the Voltage drop in the DC cables. Make sure the inverter and battery terminal connections are correct for the current demand and for best performance consider a crimp and solder type of terminal connection. A high Voltage drop in the DC cables translates to waste heat and will reduce your load run time. Consider how long you need the AC unit to operate from the inverter/battery system. AC units are high energy demand devices. If you need several hours of run time you'll need a battery system with suitable charge capacity.

  • QuestionCan this inverter be connected to a separate 12V deep cycle battery for power?

    Asked by MMoore.

    • Answer Hi, yes, this inverter can be connected to any 12 volt battery you choose. You may need to buy or fashion certain connectors/adapters based on your battery terminals though. It comes with mini jumper cables (about 8 inches long). You can choose to hard wire it if you like, though in that case I would recommend an inline 30 AMP fuse just to be safe.

  • QuestionCan you jump-start your car with this when charged?

    Asked by Potato2525.

    • Answer The POWER 500W inverter allows you to charge and power your devices by either utilizing the 12V adapter (that plugs into your CLA/car accessory port) or you can have it permanently installed directly to your battery (we recommend you take it to a professional installer for this application). Its Its purpose is to power/charge your devices while driving. The POWER 500W inverter cannot jump start your car. If you are looking for a jump starting solution, Cobra has a few options - Models CPP8500 or CPP15000. If you have further questions, please contact us directly at 800-543-1608 (Option 3) Monday - Thursday 9am - 4:00pm EST. Thank you for your question!

  • QuestionUSB-C port not working have tried different cables and different devices and does not work. Yes inverter is on. Is there a certain way to turn the USB ports on?

    Asked by Stxguy.

    • Answer Thank you for your question. If your USB-C port is not working, there are several things you can check. First, ensure that your Power Inverter is connected properly and consider power cycling it if needed. Next, inspect the USB-C cable you’re using to make sure it isn’t damaged and that it’s securely connected to both the inverter and your device. Also, check if the Power Inverter is displaying any error messages, as this could indicate that you need to reduce the load. To assist you further, we would need more details about the issue. Please contact us at 800-543-1608, and we’ll be happy to help you.
