A:AnswerUpgrade your RAM and HD to SSD as I did and it does quite well, didn't test it stock but it should be decent with stock hardware. The main thing with video editing is processor, and the I7 will do fine.
A:AnswerThe laptop comes with a standard 1 year warranty... It shows up in the Dell Learning Center application. Tells you how much time is left on the warranty and gives you a chance to renew before it ends.. Once it ends you can't get any further extension.
A:AnswerYou will want to upgrade the memory to the full 16 GB of Ram.
This will work well for editing video and audio and will encode much faster than others.
Though note that the display itself is lower quality compared to higher end machines. If color quality or need for IPS monitor is important this is not the laptop you want but to get the job done this will work.
A:AnswerI would think so, although you would likely need Windows Office or similar to perform many student related tasks. I already had Office 13 so I didn't have to purchase separately, but I believe it comes with a trial subscription to Office 365.
A:AnswerFor the sims this will work well. For heavy shooter or intensive real world action games.. not so much.
For heavy gaming go with something with an AMD A10-7400P or more CPU.
For work and occasional gaming this will work very well and both you and your wife will be happy with it.
A:AnswerNot sure on the Trade.. Somehow I doubt it but on the CPU the details are incorrect.
This is actually a 2.4 GHz Intel i7 with boost up to 3GHz. labeling it as a 3.0 GHz is not correct. Actual speed in use is between 2.4 and 2.8x.
This does not start at 3 and go up it starts at 2.4 and goes up to 3 in spurts as needed. There is no settings in BIOS to lock this to a specific speed other than turn off the boost and auto power adjust settings which would force it to 2.4 ALL the time.
A:AnswerThis is a new laptop that just recent;y came out in the last month or so.. July 27th, 2015 is date of this post.
Individual components are older.. The I7 5500U CPU was released in January 2015. For manufacturer date check the specs in BIOS or contact Dell with your Service Tag number.
A:AnswerIt does not come with Microsoft Word if that is what you are referencing. But you are able to download it from the internet if you get it through Office 365. Or install it if you purchase the program.
