Q: QuestionI recently purchased a unit of this model and it seems to rarely shut off the compressor. I've never owned a mini fridge, is this normal? I'm worried about my electric bill

• A:Answer Daniel, I had the same concerns. I did measure the power consumption on mine and it was .6 amps at 120 volts which equals 72 watts or the equivalent of a 75 watt light bulb. Not too bad. if it ran 12 hours a day and your electricity costs 12 cents/KWH then the annual cost to run it would be $37.84 annually. I did a review on the unit. Below is my review. The refrigerator cools decently but runs for long periods (10-12 hours) and is off for long periods (8-10 hours) The temperature control of this unit was suspect to me, so I performed some data logging of the temperature with a documenting process calibrator for around 36 hours. Looking at the report it was apparent that the thermostat on the unit has a large amount of hysteresis. The result is a large dead band in the temperature of 11-13 degrees Fahrenheit. I like my beer to have a temperature of around 35 degrees. The best I can do with this fridge is to set it so the temperature ranges between 30 and 43 degrees. This is too wide of a swing in temperature between the on and off cycle. I tried to contact Frigidaire but was on hold forever. I sent them a message with my full contact information but never heard back. I will try again. It’s too bad that this is the path that that once proud corporations have chosen. Have their products made in China and then cut customer support staff to where customer service is secondary or tertiary.

Q: QuestionI purchased this unit and am reading about defrosting instructions. It say to make sure drip pan is in place under the freezer section. I do not see a drip pan. How do we direct the melting ice during defrost?

• A:Answer Water inside a refrigerator is usually caused by condensation when warm room air enters the refrigerator. Check that your door is closing properly (run your hand around the outside edge of the unit with the door closed - do you feel any cold air?) You can adjust the door by loosening the top hinge. You can also adjust the front feet so the front of the fridge is slightly higher than the rear - this way gravity will assist in keeping the door closed. You can lubricate the gasket with a bit of petroleum jelly (Vaseline) to keep the gasket pliable.
