It turns off when the power is off. If you have a older car where the cigarette lighter is always on, you would need to unplug it.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.There is no motion sensor to tell the camera to wake up or come on if something happens while its off. The camera stays on as long as it has power however it does overwrite the newest files on top of the oldest files so depending on your memory card size and how much time elapses between events it could overwrite the event you're looking for. I wouldn't recommend this device as security camera to see if someone messes with your car while its parked.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Simply, no. It takes several seconds for it to even turn on and would miss any incident that happened 15 seconds ago. You would not want to leave it out in plain sight anyway, someone would just break in and steal it.
