  • QuestionDoes this fridge have a flat back?

    Asked by topcook.

    • Answer Hi topcook- This is Sue at GE Appliances. Thanks for viewing our GE Series Bottom-Freezer Refrigerators! Yes, the refrigerator has NeverClean Condenser. Newer GE automatic defrost refrigerators have a Neverclean Condenser. The condenser coils are located in the compressor housing instead of on the back, keeping them clean and functioning optimally. This design allows for more efficient airflow. The coils will not require cleaning under normal conditions. Thanks for checking with us!

  • QuestionWill refrigerator magnets stick to front door and sides?

    Asked by Howard.

    • Answer Magnets stick very well to the front. They also stick to the sides, but with less force. Small or weak magnets may slide around, as will heavier items. I have a grill thermometer for example that I have to delicately position so it will stay up.

  • QuestionHi, some of the review are saying this refrigerator is loud. I live in a small space and this would be a problem? Would you please comment on this?

    Asked by Redo.

    • Answer Hi, just purchased the same. Saw those same comments; and to date- I have not experienced a noisy fridge. Obviously, there IS a compressor that runs to keep your food cold, but I find the unit not noisy at all.

  • QuestionThis refrigerator would be used intermittently in a small cabin. How long does it take to reach its proper temperature when it is restarted? Also, is it okay to turn on/off after just a few days use, a few times a month? Thank you.

    Asked by Kate.

    • Answer Hi Kate- We are excited to hear of your interest in our GE Brand! When a refrigerator is first installed, allow 24 hours for it to stabilize to normal operating temperatures. Some cooling should be obvious in the freezer within approximately one hour. It will not harm the refrigerator to turn it off when not in use. • QuestionWe are planning to use this as a secondary refrigerator in our garage. Is this ok?

    Asked by Patty.

    • Answer Hi Patty- This is Sue at GE Appliances. Thanks for viewing! It is not recommended that refrigerators be used in unheated locations, such as garages, porches, or unheated rooms during periods when the temperature is likely to fall below 60 degrees Fahrenheit. At this temperature, the unit is less efficient and will continue to lose efficiency as the outdoor temperature decreases. At 32 degrees, there is no cooling capability at all. We do not recommend installing a refrigerator where the temperature will exceed 110 degrees Fahrenheit. There is a possibility that operating the refrigerator in extremely high temperature could cause the oil to overheat and break down, thus damaging the compressor or sealed system. Refrigeration systems rely on the boiling of refrigerant under pressure and heat. If the temperature is not sufficient, the refrigerant will not boil to a vapor and no cooling will take place. Low temperatures can also fool the thermostat into thinking proper temperatures have been reached. Thanks for reaching out to us!

  • QuestionWhat opening do I need, when the fridge is standing next to the wall? Is it 27 1/8" wide, to allow me to open the door and have enough side clearance?

    Asked by 1234.

    • Answer Hi 1234- This is Sue at GE Appliances. Thanks for considering model GBE10ESJSB! We encourage you to view the Quick Specs for approximate product dimensions at this link: http://products.geappliances.com/MarketingObjectRetrieval/Dispatcher?RequestType=PDF&Name=GBW10ESJSB_c2.pdf - The width with door open 90 degrees less handle is 25". The interior drawers can be accessed with the door(s) at 90 degrees, most product specifications list the Width w/Door Open 90 Degrees. Additional 17" clearance is needed to remove the drawers or to open the door(s) if the adjacent wall is deeper than the refrigerator case depth (depth w/o doors 24-1/4"). Also, allow the following air clearances: Back 3", Side 1", Top 4". Thanks for checking with us!
