• A:Answer The compressors on these fridges are faulty. Trust me, mine been sitting dead for months waiting on service when it failed after 6 months. Tech says GE knows they're all bad and having to replace them.

Q: QuestionWhat is the height for the back of this fridge? Looks like there are no hinges.

• A:Answer The hinges are in the front for the doors, so the total height (product height) will include the front of the fridge with the hinges and 1/8" to spare. I just rounded up to 70" for total height. For the back of the fridge (height without hinges) it's 68 5/8". So, as long as you have at least 69" or more space from the bottom of your cabinets to your floor, this fridge will fit height-wise.

• A:Answer Hello. Thanks for reaching out! You must use the filter bypass plug when a replacement filter cartridge is not available. The dispenser and the icemaker will not operate without the filter or filter bypass plug. Some models do not come equipped with the filter bypass plug. To obtain a free bypass plug call 800-GECARES. Q: QuestionWhen you use the filtered water, it comes out at the refrigerated temperature initially. What is the capacity of the chilled filtered water tank/storage? i.e. How much chilled water before it starts being tap-temperature cold water coming through?

• A:Answer Hi there, We're more than happy to provide an answer to your question! Bottom freezer and french door refrigerators have a water reservoir coil in the fresh food section that cools 16 oz. of water. The water is chilled and stored until it is needed. Since the reservoir is in the fresh food section, the water will not be ice-cold. The first time the dispenser is used, the chilled water lever may need to be pressed for two to three minutes to fill the reservoir for the first time. It takes approximately seven seconds to fill an eight ounce glass with water. After the 16 oz. of cold water is dispensed, any additional water dispensed will not be chilled until the water in the coil tubing has had time to chill again. Models with a Hot Water Dispenser have a separate stainless tank that holds 22 ounces of hot water, which dispenses hot water in 10 oz increments. The temperature must be set again to dispense additional hot water. Water is fed into the hot water tank independently from the cold water. Let us know if you have any additional questions. Q: QuestionKey Specs say depth is 33 3/8 without handle. 35 7/8 with. Under Dimensions it says depth is 37 7/8. Can you help me understand the discrepancy? Our space would accommodate the 35 7/8 with handle but not 37 7/8 mentioned in dimensions. Thanks so much!

• A:Answer I measured the fridge itself and the smaller dimensions are sound. However, you don’t want to push the unit flush with the wall and oddly enough I have mine 2 inches from the wall and it resides the full 37 and 7/8 from the back of the wall to the handle.

• A:Answer It is a short line. However, some pone set me a suggestion… just put a straw over the water straw that is there and you will have a longer chord. Just remember to get one that is snug around the water line

Q: QuestionHome Depot sells a $8 product to remove scratches on stainless steel however it states that it cannot be used on "coated" stainless steel that is often touted as fingerprint resistant. Is this fridge "coated" and therefore safe to use the scratch kit?
