QuestionReplacement grates for the griddle -$40-$50 plus $100+ for counter kit for slide-in then postage and handling on top of that. I guess I should think about buying GE stock since it won't go bankrupt--but not investing in the range!!

- Answer Hi - Thanks for considering our GE Gas Range JGSS66SELSS. The range is equipped with 2 Grates and an extra-large, integrated non-stick griddle. Center Grate JXGRATE1 and Slide-in Range Filler Kit JXFILLR1DD are optional and not required. The range is designed for easy installation in a standard 30" free-standing range cutout. JXFILLR1DD is only necessary if you want to cover the small gap on the sides or if you have a rough countertop cut you would like to cover. - Answer There is a kit on the GE website but you may not need it; I thought I would but it slid flush up to the old lip from the previous stove. You can always install the trim later.

QuestionWe're trying to replace our Jenn-Aire slide-in which vents out through the bottom into the crawl space. To where does this model vent? We cannot use a vent hood.

QuestionThere is metal piece looks like some sort of vent that is to be attached at the back of the stove. If I attach it then the stove will protrude much farther out due to a 1/2 inch deep piece of granite on the wall behind stove.Is this piece essential?

- Answer Hello, thank you for your question. The part that you are referring to is the rear trim piece. The rear trim piece is necessary for your range to properly function as it ensures proper airflow around the unit. While we do not anticipate that you will have any issues with your range, should something occur and the cause were to be from installation issues concerning the rear trim piece, you would not be covered under your range's one-year limited manufacturing warranty. QuestionI got this installed last week and the first time we used the oven (bake at 350) door closed, the control area and knobs got really hot to touch. I have a technician coming out to look. Hope he can resolve this. It is a safety issue especially with kids.

- Answer No it’s not. It vents out the back. There’s an attachment between the back of the stove and the wall that is a few inches wide that vents upward.

- Answer This griddle absolutely is coated with PFOA, with Teflon. It off-gases something terrible. We are trying to find non-coated parts for our rental home. GE is wrong that it complies with international laws, only laws in the US, where such chemicals are legal. These chemicals have been banned in Canada, for example, since 2016.
