QuestionIf I elect to use the side venting option on this dryer, do I still need to leave 4 inches clearance in the rear of the dryer? I have about 31” of clearance in my laundry closet from front to back but plenty of room for side venting.

- Answer No. You only need the clearance for the vent pipe, whichever side you choose.

- Answer Hello Houp - this is Nancy at GE Appliances and we are happy to help you. The depth of the dryer from the front to the back is 29-1/2". You should allow approximately 4-6" in the rear of the dryer to accommodate the 4" rigid (aluminum or galvanized) exhaust ducting. We hope this helps! Thanks for checking with us!

QuestionI have an electric dryer now and want to know if the cord from my existing dryer will work on this dryer.

- Answer They recommend that you use a new cord. I did buy the new cord, but it ended up being the wrong type, so I was forced to use the cord off the old unit, which had no signs of electric arcing between the wires and the coating on the wires was not broke down in any spots. I would not reuse a cord if it showed any frayed spots in plastic covering or burned areas from heat.

- Answer This is a very adequate dryer and mine didn't come with accessories. Just seems like the more accessories, the more repair bills and original cost is higher too. I prefer machines that are simple to operate and this is more than adequate.

QuestionI have had a GE Washer and Dryer since March 2019. The Dryer has been repaired or should i say attempts to repair the Dryer 5 times and waiting for repairs now. The Drum made a bumping noise. They have been unable to fix. Dont know if i can trust GE again

- Answer I’m really not sure. I had a stackable and I vented it to the side, from the rear of the dryer. Don’t see why you can’t do that. Hope this helps. You can also contact GE and ask them.

This unit requires a new UL-listed 240V 30-amp dryer power supply cord with 3 or 4 prongs. Since the power cord is not provided with dryer, you should identify the plug type needed for your house receptacle before purchasing the line cord. You can find guidance in selecting a power cord and learn more about electrical connections on pages 9-10 of the Installation Guide. We hope that this helps! -Eliza@GEA
