Q: QuestionMy microwave fan won't shut off and the interior is getting hot. what can be wrong?

• A:Answer Hey there, We can definitely understand your concern about the microwave vent fan. All over-the-range microwaves have an automatic fan feature to help protect the electronic components as well as help the cooking area get rid of excess heat. The built-in thermostat automatically turns the vent fan on if the unit is too hot and will not turn off until the microwave is cool again. You will not be able to turn the vent fan off manually during this time. "Too hot" means the temperature around the control panel is above 150 degrees Fahrenheit. The fan will shut off when the control surface is less than 150 degrees Fahrenheit. If this is not the case and your vent is not shutting off at all, we recommend calling for service. Q: QuestionWe have a 36 inch opening and replacing a broken microwave. Is there a universal stainless steel trim kit for this microwave?

• A:Answer Hi, We replaced our microwave and was surprised to learn that GE Profile microwaves were not standard size and had the same issue. We went to hardware store and purchased pine wood trim and painted it stainless steel color and glued it to the wall. You can't even tell its separate! Good luck!

Q: QuestionWhat is the product height for the PVM9005SJSS microwave? What is the the cut-out height for the for the PVM9005SJSS microwave? Are those product & cut-out heights the same as for the JVM1790SK 01? (my current microwave)

• A:Answer Hey there, This is a great question to ask. The product height for the PVM microwave is 16-7/16", while the cutout height is 16-1/2". The cutout height for the PVM microwave is 1/4" greater than your JVM model, however, it will still fit with no issues. If you have any additional questions, we're always here to help. Q: QuestionDoes "cut-out-length" refer to the minimum depth of the surrounding cabinets? AND why is the cut-out-length for this microwave 17 5/16 inches when the other GE over-the range microwaves of the same size have a cut-out-legnth of 13 inches?

• A:Answer Hey there, Thanks for your question. The cut out dimensions are designed so the the microwave will be able to fit properly in its surroundings. The length is the same as the depth. • A:Answer Hi! Thanks for asking. A humming noise when the microwave is not in operation would be normal. The transformer emits a slight humming sound that is usually not noticed. The transformer is used to power the clock. Q: QuestionHi Our stove is 36" & the old GE Profile we are replacing had a 6" trim kit down the left side to allow the 30" microwave to fit the 36" space, rather than have 3" gaps on sides. Is there a trim kit to do this for this model? PVM9005SJSS Thanks!

• A:Answer Hey there, thank you for connecting with us. We'd be happy to help you reset your filter! When the Reset Filter light is on, replace the charcoal filter, then place your finger over the words Reset Filter and press down for 3 seconds. The Reset Filter indicator light will reset and go off. If you have changed the charcoal filter and tried resetting the Reset Filter indicator light but the Reset Filter notification will not go away, you can try the following: Disconnect power to the microwave for a minute or two by unplugging it or shutting off the circuit breaker/fuse to the microwave. Restore power and see if the light has reset. If this does not clear the Reset Filter indicator light, service will be needed. You can call GE Service at 1-800-432-2737. We hope this helps! This makes choosing a replacement a breeze. Please note however, that you will need to use the mounting kit that comes with the model. This is because the kit is made specifically for that model.
