QuestionWe recently bought a GE Profile GYE22 refrigerator and it has been delivered and installed. The water and ice dispensers are on the left side of the top door. My mother in law is having trouble getting the water and ice to dispense. How can I help?

- Answer I rarely use ice, so I had to test it. In the front, it gives you a choice of crushed or cubed. The cubes I get look more like rectangles. I don't know about the second question.

QuestionAll of the lights just went out in the fridge, except for the lower drawer and the freezer light. What do i do? Is the control board something that should go out in less than 18 months?

QuestionHow do you change the water filter. It looks like it may swing out but I don't want to break anything. I tried turning it but it will not turn

- Answer To replace the filter, you will open the filter door and pulling on the bottom of the cartridge to disengage it from the filter clips. Swing the cartridge outward until you hear the 'click' of the cartridge holder engaging with the bracket. Twist the cartridge one-quarter turn counter-clockwise. After turning, pull the cartridge away from the cartridge holder to remove it. The full instructions on this can be found on page 17 of the use and care manual on the product page or you can reach out to us on social media if you need additional assistance.

- Answer Hello - This model uses the RPWFE water filter and should automatically reset the water filter indicator light. The RPWFE water filter uses radio frequency identification (RFID) to detect leaks and monitor the filter status. Please make sure the filter is installed correctly, that you're using a genuine GE Appliances RPWFE filter, and that there are no leaks using the instructions in the "Water Filter Cartridge - RPWFE" section on pg. 17 of the Owner's Manual. If this doesn't prove helpful, we recommend scheduling a service appointment for one of our qualified technicians to assess your unit. - Answer Hi – thanks for reaching out! Water under the full width drawer in the fresh food section may indicate a clogged drain tube. If it is frosting up or freezing, it could mean that the temperature is set too low as well. These models require some disassembly to access the defrost drain tube, so we recommend that you contact service. QuestionReplaced the water filter, now the indicator says dispenser off replace water filter?

- Answer The water filter that is required is the RPWFE, which has a "chip" on it. The chip tells the refrigerator when to signal a change for the filter - every 6 months or 170 gallons of water and detects leaks. There is a filter without the chip, RPWF. Some refrigerators can take either filter. I believe that this GE model only takes the chipped one, RPWFE. I thought about switching to the cheaper filter, without the chip because the water line going to the fridge comes from my Reverse Osmosis water system, already highly purified. I think the unchipped filter will shut the water and ice functions down, like it did for you. Check your cartridge for the correct model, if it is fine, call GE support.

- Answer Good day, It is absolutely possible to run this refrigerator without a filter. However, you will not be able to use the dispenser features without either a filter of the bypass plug installed. QuestionI keep hearing a on off noise what can that be? And how do I fix it? It’s not like that all the time but some thing turns on not a fan and then turns off about 2 to 3 seconds later and will do that for 30+ minutes.

QuestionHow much clearance is needed on the side of the refrigerator? I have counter on one side and wall on the other. The total space is 36.5 inches. Can I fit a 36" fridge?

- Answer Yes, you have room as it requires an eighth inch clearance on each side and 2 inches for the back. Too close for me, chance of dinging up the wall, fridge or both when it moving it to clean. I spent plenty of money to move cabinets a few inches to ensure the fridge could "breathe".

- Answer In a word, no. Use your warranty. Something is not right. Ours is so quiet, I think it's not running.
