  • QuestionIs the middle drawer easily removed? Will this refrigerator fit a 33 inch door way? How can it fit through, I was told the middle drawer is hard to take out

    Asked by Anonymous.

    • Answer Easily is a relative question. Can it be removed, yes. But there is an electrical connection involved in addition to the mechanics, so its not like the freezer drawer which was easy (a few screws) to remove. We have a choke point going into the kitchen that if the granite counter top was a 1/4 inch less we would have had no problem. But alas, the handle of the middle drawer would hit one side of the counter top. We looked at removing the middle drawer but after removing the screws for the drawer, there was no apparent connector that we could see to easily disconnect the drawer from the frig. The last thing I wanted with the new frig is to have the electronics messed up for any reason, so I told the delivery guys to put it back together and remove the freezer drawer. Once done, I had them lift the frig high enough to use the open space created by the now removed freezer drawer to maneuver the choke point. Wife had to leave the room for this one. It interesting this frig is "smaller" than the Samsung it was replacing, but exterior wise it was a bit bigger, as we did not have any of these issues removing the old frig. So far we love this frig, however it took a good 24 - 36 hours before the frig/freezer worked like one. The good thing was that our previous frig was still operational so everything was cold and frozen to begin with, however the ice cream did get soft during this process and took a majority of the 36 hours+ to harden.

  • Questionmy GE Profile #PVD28BYNFS has suddenly stopped making ice and it reads full when there isn't any???

    Asked by Billie72.

    • Answer Hi Billie72, thanks for reaching out! We're sorry to hear about this, we know that this must be frustrating for you. There is an article titled "BOTTOM MOUNT REFRIGERATOR NOT MAKING ICE" on our website that offers a good amount of tips to try for an issue such as this. You can also try to disconnect power briefly, for about 30 seconds, and then restore power. This can reset the internal electronics and may help as well. If none of these tips work, then a service appointment may be needed to further investigate the issue. We hope that this helps! Stay safe. -Michael

  • QuestionThe Controls Panel shows the temperature settings for the fridge and freezer but does not display the current temperatures. Where are the current temperatures shown?

    Asked by Beav.

    • Answer For total clarity here... the refrigerator does not display actual temps to the user but a technician can actually put it into diagnostic mode and view actual temps. The problem is, you can’t trust this refrigerator to stay close to the temps so it’s just a mystery all the time. We have important things in our freezer that can’t thaw but without any warning or way to check the temperature it’s all thawed apparently because of a defrost issue. It seems as though they’ve gated this feature even though the hardware can support it and this makes impossible to know something is wrong until it’s too late.

  • QuestionHow much space is needed between enclosure and refrigerator

    Asked by Marshall.

    • Answer The manual details this and the other questions near this posting. Directly: 2" behind and 3" above. This is minimum. But see my review detailing how to greatly increase and lower the temperature of feed air. Cut a hole in your vanity panel if that is what is to the left of your fridge. Line it up with the little 3" round vent in the fridge on the left side -- or if a cabinet is to the left of your fridge cut into the under cabinet space (between the floor and cabinet bottom - then cut out whatever size hole you can find a vent cover for at a big box store in the kick plate of your cabinet to get fresh air into the condenser, fan and compressor. Also, block off the bottom rear, rear intake vent in the rear access cover with plastic to keep hot air from recirculating back into the condenser. This will dramatically reduce compressor and condenser fan speed (think much less noise) increasing efficiency and longevity of both compressor and fan. I've been in construction and engineering for 45 years and this method of venting is common for both uses like this and for A/C duct feeds to cabinet kick plates.

  • QuestionIs this model smudge proof and does it have a ice maker in the bottom part of the freezer? how often does the water filter need to be changed and if you don't, will the fridge quit producing water for the ice?

    Asked by Shannon.

    • Answer Hi Shannon, Based on our research we are finding that this unit has a fingerprint resistant stainless steel finish. This will reduce fingerprints and smudges to the face of the unit. There is no ice maker in the freezer section but rather, the ice maker is located inside of the left door of the fresh food section. This allows you to use the dispenser to call for ice whenever you would like. We recommend changing your filter about every 6 months for the most optimal filtration. We are also finding that these are the filters that your unit needs: https://www.geapplianceparts.com/store/parts/KeywordSearch?q=xwf&icid=WFLP_Spec_XWF - Also, once the 6 month period is reached, your unit will still dispense water, though the longer you wait to change your filter, the more likely you are to potentially see slower water flow from your dispenser. We hope that this helped! Thank you so much for your question. -Michael
