Q: QuestionI have a smart TV. What is the advantage of having this device?
Asked by Mozzy.
- A:Answer Using this product would absolutely be a disadvantage. This would not make your entertainment experience any better. It only makes regular tvs into "smart TVs"

Q: QuestionCan I upload new apps with this device? (Disney+)
Asked by RBird.
- A:Answer The question really is does Chromecast let you add additional apps/channels to it, Nope. It is not like a roku or smart TV that has a built in menu of apps. I prefer roku or smart TV, i don't want to cast everything, heck my phone needs to charge or I need it for doing something else. I leave someone else needs to cast. I could use a laptop but it needs to sit somewhere and then I want a mouse. Yes a tablet would be better if it can be dedicated for use with the TV only.

Q: Questiondoes this work directly between the tv and device? i have a downloaded movie on Netflix stored on my phone. Can I send it from phone (Android) directly to the TV without having a high-speed internet connection? i have wifi, but not fast enuff to stream
Asked by dave.
- A:Answer We're using it like that in RV parks, often there is slow internet. We store the content in our phones and cast to our trailer TV. You must have WiFi, the Chromecast device and your phone (or whatever device) must be in the same WiFi network and that network must be connected to the internet BUT it's not streaming over the internet. It's doing some background stuff there. The content is going from your phone to the TV. A side note - the device has an "ambient mode" which you cannot turn off. This just displays pretty pictures like a screen saver. The device wants to download high res versions of said pretty pictures over the internet by default. Rumor had it you can point it to a folder in your device with lower res photos but I've not tried doing that.

Q: QuestionCan I send shows from my phone to my tv with this device? I have the PBS app and would like to watch these on my tv screen.
Asked by Marco.
- A:Answer A lot of apps have Chromecast support. I know for a fact that PBS app supports this. When it sees a Chromecast on your wireless network, the Chromecast icon will show up in the app (on PBS app, it is in the upper right hand corner). This isn't a comprehensive list, but this is a list that Google provides of apps that have Chromecast support - https://store.google.com/product/chromecast_apps

Q: QuestionDo I have to have internet at home to use chromecast on my tv? Can I use my phone as the internet source only?
Asked by Yee.
- A:Answer I have tried this, no it does not work. Both your phone and the device must be in the same WiFi network to work. Your phone can’t connect to its own WiFi.

Q: QuestionDoes the Chromecast 3 have Bluetooth audio? For instance, if I want to watch a program and not disturb my wife, can I connect my Bluetooth headphones to the Chromecast 3 like I can with Fire/Apple/etc?
Asked by Larry.
- A:Answer I posted the original question and went ahead and purchased one since the answers were all across the board...1 yes, 1 no, and 2 nonsense answers. The answer is NO it does NOT have Bluetooth audio. It does use Bluetooth for the setup process but that is the only time it is used. This may change with firmware updates in the future but as of now you should avoid this product if you are looking for a media player with Bluetooth audio.
