• A:Answer Yes, when plugged in, it will record 24/7. WARNING -- this camera can not be viewed in the old Nest app, only in the Home app. ALSO, since this camera is not being "added" to the Nest "environment", it can not be viewed with a browser!

• A:Answer With an IP54 rating. It probably would be good to use some sort of covering to keep direct rain/snow from hitting it directly. IP68 and higher is what you want for full wet contact and shallow submersion in water. This camera is not completely sealed against water and dust.

Q: QuestionHow long does it take to charge one of these cameras? I would use it primarily overnight so during the day we would charge it whenever the battery is running low. Speaking of low battery, will the app display battery life remaining?

• A:Answer They claim that under normal use the battery should last about a month. Charging from zero to full should take about 5 hours. And YES, the battery 'meter' is very large and clearly seen in the Google Home App.

Q: QuestionAfter (unfortunately) discovering that the new nest cam DOES NOT record 24x7 to allow video scrubbing in Battery mode - I have plugged my new camera in... but I am still not seeing a way to scrub video - it still only displays video snippets (events)?

• A:Answer The reality is that it depends on what generation of camera you are using. Most of the newer Nest cameras from Google only allow video event viewing and not scrubbing and only work in the Google Home app. If you want the video scrubbing feature, you will need to buy an older Nest camera that will work in the Nest app. For me, the moment they take this feature away from older cameras (if they do), I will dump my six cameras and move to a new camera setup because this is why I invested so much into my Nest camera system. I was all in on Nest - smoke alarms and thermostat too. (Feeling a little abandoned)

• A:Answer I just returned this camera, because of this issue. You can't view this NEST camera in the NEST app! Google is forcing people to sue their "Home" app. Two reasons I returned this camera -- (1) I now need to use the Home app and the Nest App, because certain Nest devices do not appear in the Home app. (2) MORE IMPORTANTLY -- you can not view this new camera from a browser!

By default, the LED light for your Nest camera automatically activate whenever it is turned on, connected to Wi-Fi, and is processing images in its view. The lights let you know whether they work normally or if there’s a problem. You won't be able to turn off the LED lights whenever your Nest Cam (Battery) is turned on. However, you can use the app to change the brightness level of the LED status light. Here's how: - Open the Google Home app. - Touch and hold your device's tile. - Tap Settings. - Select Video. - Under “Status light brightness,” choose High, Auto, or Low.
