You probably could, but only if you have an active WiFi hotspot on your cell phone that you can share with this device. It would probably be more beneficial if you just purchased a GPS for this use. You may run through dead spots with your cell phone and be unable to load the GPS.

yes...as long as you have downloaded the maps you need from Google before you set out on your trip. If you are not connected to a network, it can't update the maps. You can tether it to your cell phone which gives it data connectivity. In that case, it will download updates.

You could as long as you have a wifi hotspot in your car or on your phone because the tablet needs an internet connection to generate the maps while you are driving.
