Q: QuestionCan I use to hook up external passive speakers to samsung hw-q700a soundbar. Will i need a mini amp as well? Samsung TV (HDMI and Optical only) + Soundbar (HDMI and Optical) + 2 Sonance ceiling speakers

• A:Answer It depends what you are trying to accomplish. The Samsung sounder you have is designed for a surround sound experience and has the ability to add 2 Samsung wireless rear speakers for additional sound coverage in the surround mode. you can add 2 ceiling speakers many different ways but you will not be adding to the surround experience because they will not get processed by any device to send the audio that is needed to those speakers. They will only get unprocessed audio like the bar and could cause a sync issue where the ceiling speakers and sounder are not playing the same audio at the same exact moment. I would only use the ceiling speakers if you were adding this audio to another room where a sync issue would not be recognized. Hope this was helpful. • A:Answer It should. That is it's intent. Pass thru Video and extract audio to out. I use it on a PS4. Q: QuestionI've got a Roku streaming stick connected and trying to stream Netflix and extract 5.1 to my Sonos playbar. Roku shows Dolby digital, but Sonos is seeing stereo in. Why?

• A:Answer I've answered my own question. The extractor is not capable of transcoding DD+ (the format that Netflix and almost every streaming platform now uses) to regular DD 5.1. Therefore it simply outputs a stereo signal.

The Insignia HDMI Audio Extractor (model NS‑HZ340) supports 4K at 60Hz, which means it will give you audio for your PS5 and Astro A40 setup, but it will not maintain 1440p at 120Hz.
