  • QuestionWould this amp work with the 12" Comp C 4 ohm Ported enclosure 300 rms ? If not can you suggest one with a good RMS range

    Asked by Terry.

    • Answer I wouldn't recommend it. At 4ohm this amp is only pushing 150 watts. I actually had the same set up. I upgraded to a 1ohm set up and it makes a world of difference. Personally, I would recommend the Kicker CX 800.1 amp because, at 4ohms, you will be able to get the full 300watts that your speaker is rated for.

  • QuestionWill this amp power a Kicker 12 inch Pro Comp R wired parallel running 1 ohm

    Asked by John.

    • Answer I currently have this running a DVC Kicker comp VR 10” as a 1ohm load and per the specs on the amp is 1ohm stable making it safe to run a 1ohm load. The VR has 2 2ohm voice coils so it works well and is a great pairing.

  • QuestionI have one JL 12 in. w3v3-4 subwoofer in a ported box. how well will this amp work with this sub? thanks you for your help.

    Asked by Islandboy.

    • Answer According to the JL Audio website, "the JL 12W3v3-4 is best used with amplifier power in the 150W - 500W range" and their power meter shows that optimum power would be about 250 watts RMS. The KICKER CXA400.1 amplifier will produce 150 watts RMS when connected to a single 4-ohm load speaker as you specified. If you are looking for great sound and performance without maximum SPL (loudness), the CXA400.1 will work fine. If you desire more SPL with the single 4-ohm speaker load you currently have, you may be better suited to use a KICKER CXA800.1 instead as it will provide 300 watts RMS in to a 4-ohm load. • QuestionWill this amp pair well with 2 10" Rockford Fosgate P1 svc subs at 1ohm load?

    Asked by SC.

  • QuestionWill this amp push the single kicker 12 300w downfiring subwoofer?

    Asked by JTeems11.

    • Answer The KICKER CXA400.1 amplifier provides 150 watts @ 4-ohms, 300 watts @ 2-ohms and 400 watts into a 1-ohm load. At a 2-ohm load this would provide the required 300 watts for your single down firing subwoofer. • QuestionCan you bridge this amp

    Asked by Anonymous.

    • Answer The KICKER CXA400.1 Amplifier is a 400-watt Monoblock design. The amplifier sums the left and right inputs and provides a mono output to drive your subwoofers with 150 Watts @ 4-ohms, 300 Watts @ 2-Ohms and 400 Watts @ 1-ohm. There is no bridging capability on this amplifier as it is not a stereo amplifier, it is already bridged. If you need further assistance, please reach out to KICKER Technical Support at 800-256-0808.

  • QuestionWhat does only red light comes on not green when I hook up amp

    Asked by Ddww.

    • Answer Troubleshooting details from the KICKER CXA400.1 Owner's Manual: If your amplifier does not appear to be working, check the obvious things first such as blown fuses, poor or incorrect wiring connections, incorrect setting of crossover switch and gain controls, etc. There are Power (PWR) & Protection (PRT) LEDs on the side panel of your Kicker CX series amplifier. Depending on the state of the amplifier and the vehicle’s charging system, the LEDs will glow either green or red. When the green LED is lit, this indicates the amplifier is turned on and no trouble exists. Green LED off, no output? With a Volt Ohm Meter (VOM) check the following: +12 volt power terminal (should read +12V to +16V) Remote turn-on terminal (should read +12V to +16V) Check for reversed power and ground connections Ground terminal, for proper conductivity. Green LED on, no output? Check the following: RCA connections Test speaker outputs with a “known” good speaker. Substitute source unit with a “known” good source unit. Check for a signal in the RCA cable feeding the amplifier with the VOM meter set to measure “AC” voltage. Red LED flickering with loud music? The red LED indicates low battery voltage. Check all the connections in your vehicle’s charging system. It may be necessary to replace or charge your vehicle’s battery or replace your vehicle’s alternator. Red LED on, no output? Amplifier is very hot = thermal protection is engaged. Test for proper impedance at the speaker terminals with a VOM meter (see the diagrams in this manual for minimum recommended impedance and multiple speaker wiring suggestions). Also check for adequate airflow around the amplifier. Amplifier shuts down = voltage protection circuitry is engaged. Voltage to the amplifier is not within the 8–16 volt operating range. Have the vehicle’s charging and electrical system inspected. Amplifier will only play at low volume levels = short circuit protection is engaged. Check for speaker wires shorted to each other or to the vehicle chassis. Check for damaged speakers or speaker(s) operating below the minimum recommended impedance. • QuestionWould this amp be able to run 2 kicker 43C124-N subwoofers wired at 2 ohms? I have the amp ran to a single 12 43C124-N subwoofer and it hits really good. Would like a little bit more umphh. The rms of 1 sub is 150 so x2 is 300 watts. Is it possible to run

    Asked by 2kickersubwoofersonthisamp.

    • Answer Two of them wired in 4ohm would give you the 300 watts. No need to parallel.

  • QuestionWould this be overkill for my Kicker KT10 sub, it’s rated for 150rms and 300 peak watts?

    Asked by Tristan.

    • Answer Not if it's wired at 4 ohms. The 4 ohms is at 150, wired parallel at 2 ohms is 300 watts.
