If you are replacing a cooktop that does not have downdraft ventilation, you are better off with getting one without it. It would be cheaper and you won’t have a center vent in between the burners that would serve no purpose. If you choose to purchase anyway, you have to make sure your cabinet has enough space below to accommodate the ventilation exhaust fan. I estimate it about 18”.
