  • Questioncan the video card be upgraded

    Asked by wildrex.

    • Answer Yes, but only within the limits of the very small 250W power supply. With the stock r5 340 graphics card, the system is already peaking around 195 Watts. So that leaves you with only 55W before the absolute max, which you do not want to push on a tiny stock PSU like this. So you are pretty much limited to a very weak GPU without upgrading the power supply. The PSU is proprietary and has a 10-pin power connection that is not at all compatible with aftermarket power supplies. Even a modular power supply would have to be modified to fit Levovo's unique pin configuration.

  • QuestionWill this be good for using Quickbooks? Is AMD Ryzen as good as Intel i5?

    Asked by Gard4him.

    • Answer The Ryzen R5 1400 and the past 2 generation Intel i5 (desktop quad-core) are very comparable in performance. As far as Quickbooks, you would have to be an extremely advanced administrator running remote connections to salespeople with the mobile app to even need more than an i3 or R3.

  • QuestionHow many watts are in the power supply?

    Asked by eao1964.

    • Answer This computer has a 250W power supply with a proprietary 10-pin connection. The only unmodified power supply it can be upgraded with is the one from higher end Ideacentre 720 models. In order to replace mine with an aftermarket EVGA PSU, I had to create a 20-pin to 10-pin adapter from a 20-pin to 14-pin adapter, which has the same peg shapes for the first 10 pins. The pin order is different though, so you cannot just use a 14 pin adapter and saw off 4 pins.

  • QuestionCan this unit be set to run Raid 1 (Mirrored with a 2nd 1TB drive.

    Asked by WildBill.

    • Answer Not unless you were able to flash a modified bios with that feature unlocked. The motherboard only has 2 SATA slots, so Lenovo doesn't even put the option in the setup, assuming you would never remove your DVD drive. The chipset definitely supports it, but the computer is not designed to.

  • QuestionWill this computer allow me to plug in my acer speakers, keyboard and mouse as well as my hp printer? The acer is from 2009.

    Asked by bob.

    • Answer Yes, this Lenovo PC has the standard audio connections for: speakers (green), line in(blue) and a microphone (pink). As long as your keyboard, mouse and printer use USB for the connection, they will work. There are two USB ports on the back side and four USB ports on the front behind the panel door. You may need to connect one of the three to a front USB which would mean that the front panel would then not close. Would have been better to have more USB ports on the back and just a couple on the front. I solved the problem by adding a USB hub, plugging it into one of the back ports and placed it on the top back of the pc case. That gave me more than enough USB connections and I do not have to leave the front panel open, looks better when closed.

  • QuestionWill this computer adequately run dual monitors without distortion, etc.?

    Asked by auntsusannah.

    • Answer It is possible, but not ideal. Since this computer has one digital HDMI out and one analog VGA out, the two screens will always look different and be slightly out of sync. It's not horrible by any means, most people who do it for office use hook it up that way accidentally and never notice, even if they also have DVI out. For video or sound editing though, the difference will drive you crazy. Also note that the extra HDMI and VGA out with rubber plugs in them from the motherboard are NOT functional in this system. Those are for systems with integrated graphics, which this PC does not have. It has a dedicated graphics card and only the connections on that will work.

  • QuestionDoes this package come with the monitor? And will it work to play games?

    Asked by Ray.

    • Answer No, the monitor is sold separately. Compatibility with games will depend on the requirements of the specific games. We recommend you check with the game's software publisher's web sites for their compatibility with Windows 10 Home 64-bit operating system and the minimum/recommended hardware requirements (Is a Graphics card required, the processor speed and the minimum required system RAM and the minimum available hard drive space) to run their program, then compare those requirements to this system's configuration.

  • QuestionIf I purchase this tower, would it be compatible with my current monitor, wireless keyboard and mouse, and HP printer? What software would I need to purchase to run various office programs and photo editing?

    Asked by Jo.

    • Answer I have an HP printer and it is compatible as soon as you enter it in the printer drive-I had no problem. I do have a wireless mouse and just needed to put into port, works great. However I did not have a wireless keyboard, but I would assume it works the same way.

  • Questionwhich is more reliable? dell or lenovo? What is the i3 mean as compared to ryzen 5?

    Asked by jnpast.

    • Answer Both brands are very comparable if we just consider all models overall. They both have good high-end systems and some mediocre cheap systems. Generally you have to compare model by model these days, because the parts from all the brands come from the same good and bad factories. I have a personal preference toward Lenovo, but that is residual from the time when they were the consumer arm of IBM (and Dells were awful at that time). These days it's all oranges to oranges unless it's an Apple, in which case it's a really nice orange with Apple skin.
