QuestionDo you still like your washer?For those who have bought it over a year ago- how do you still like it? I heard most washers nowadays are are of cheap plastic components (gears, etc) that expand, loosen or break over time. I'm considering a Speed Queen brand because of this (they're commercial strong but for home use, but it's way more expensive (2,400+)..anyhoo, this LG would be my next option but am worried about all the plastic.. thoughts? problems?

QuestionIs there something you have to empty to prevent this washer from leaking?I read someone said there is a door on the left front of this washer that has to be emptied to prevent the washer from leaking? Seems a leaking washer is a homeowners nightmare, how has this problem been resolved?

QuestionIs it normal for the drum motor to make a squeal like an old CRT TV?Washer is brand new - we quickly noticed that whenever the drum is being powered, there is a constant high pitch squeal like an old CRT (tube) TV or computer monitor would make. Noise is constant in pitch/volume whenever the drum is powered regardless of how fast the drum is turning. No noise when the drum is simply coasting to a stop, it's only noisy when powered. Anyone else have this noise?

QuestionHow many minutes is the regular wash cylce?

- Answer There really is no such thing as a "regular cycle" with this machine. There are so many different cycles and options within those cycles you can choose and each impacts the wash time. That said, jeans can go 1hr 15 min. Perma-pressed about 45 minutes.

QuestionIs there a way to soak clothes with this washing machine. I use powdered laundry soap and chlorine tablets which takes a while to dissolve. Soaking clothes is the best way to ensure those are well mixed into the water and penetrates clothes.

QuestionWater supply hosesIn the manual it states that the water supply hoses are supplied and to only use the supplied hoses. Anyone know the length of these hoses and why must you only use the ones supplied? I believe the ones supplied are also a rubber hose and not the stainless braided hose sold in store. Also when purchasing the machine you're told that you must buy hoses from them or the machine will not be connected by installers. Thoughts on this

- Answer Hi Mine are stacked and not right next to the supply and they work perfectly. I had 10 year old LG's and those hoses worked until the units were replaced. Also, having a water softener helps if you have hard water. The hoses appear to be a meter long, or just over 3 feet. I also prefer the stainless hoses throughout my house. Hope this helps.

QuestionWasher noise- squeal when filling water, crackling sound on spin?So when this washer fills with water it makes a loud squeal/whooshing noise (Nothing is wrong with my plumbing as the GE washer this replaced made no noise whatsoever). Then on final spin, it makes a crackling sound - sort of like bacon frying. Anyone else have these issues? I'm have 10 more days to return this and am thinking of switching to electrolux or samsung.

- Answer We do hear the big whoosh when it's filling up but no squeal or bacon fry noise. The bacon noise might be air in the line we had that initially and we had to turn our water pressure up slightly (at the main) because this washer does demand a lot of water in a short time while it's loading or you can get that hammering/air sound.

QuestionWhen will the new LG Twin Wash unit be in stores?Shop Smart magazine by Consumer Reports shows a new miniwasher by LG. It fits under the WM8500HVA and is built into the drawer of the pedestal. Is the 8500 different than the 8000 or will either work with the new miniwasher?

- Answer Any LG front loading washer made after 2009 will be compatible with the 1 cu. ft. sidekick ("twin wash" unit). They will be in most stores, hopefully by the beginning of December. It comes in the 29 in and the 27 in depending on the size of the unit you want to pair it with, in either graphite or white. It is essentially a mini washer disguised as a pedestal.

- Answer These machines are gigantic, probably the larges washer and drier you can buy for your house. I would recommend that you do not stack them. They also vibrate quite a bit and without some industrial brackets or shelves, they might fall over and crack a hole in your foundation.

- Answer Dryer is very heavy i say no. There is no way to lift up. Washer is light so i 'd say no. Buy pedestal for individual also i would not advise not safe.
