A:Answer When I installed my TV, I cut into the wall to confirm where the studs were, then I installed a nice strong 2"x 6" wood board by whatever length you need to fit it in between the studs. This provided a very strong surface to mount the TV bracket. I did not use any kind of recessed box (or any box) in my setup. I think that's optional. I would consider letting the pros at Best Buy do the job. It's risky doing it yourself, even though I got lucky installing mine without damaging it. My brother-in-law and I installed it, but we should have not taken the risk, considering the cost of the TV. Something to think about.
